I don't know how anyone plays games with FPS meters on their screen. I find it incredibly distracting so I don't know and I don't look! I'm sure that 99% of the time I wouldn't even notice a drop from 60 to 40 FPS.
Anyhow, my GTX 970 is still playing Witcher 3 ultra on triple 1080p monitors with hairworks disabled, so I'm not swapping it any time soon. In fact, I probably won't upgrade until the 1180 or 1280 series if they stick with that naming convention.

I only use a single 1080p monitor, but I found the ASUS Strix GTX 970 to be a very good card. Yeah, there was that controversy about the 500MB VRAM running at the slower speed, but that never seemed to affect my usage ... at least not that I noticed.
The RAM issue has not effected me in the least so far.
I want to help design and develop a PvE-focused, solo-friendly, sandpark MMO which combines crafting, monster hunting, and story. So PM me if you are starting one.
Putting in a high end anything in your home computer is one of the best feelings in the world. Sweet.

Oh yea, well I'll see you not one - but two - two MSI Gaming Z GTX 1070's. Going SLI baby!

Wow awesome! Grats! You have the need. The need for speed! =D
Why yes, yes I do. Saved up money the past year by not buying Starbucks on way to work. Made my own frappuccinos and took them to work. Payed off. Got me two new cards, 32 gig of G.SKILL TridentZ Series 16GB (4 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3200 (PC4 25600) Intel Z170 Platform / Intel X99, new Gigabyte Gamer 7 mobo(future proof mobo can take next gen chips) and 4ghz i7-6700(OCed to 5ghz) CPU, and two Samsung EVO 500GB SSD's.
My gaming comp is now capable of playing anything I throw at it at 4k - with everything maxed - never drops below 80fps.
