PlayStation 4 Pro Coming November 10th for $399 - MMORPG.com News

During the PlayStation conference that just wrapped up, Sony announced the PlayStation 4 Pro that will be headed out to stores (online and retail) on November 10th. The PS4P will sell for $399. The GPU power is nearly double the standard PS4 and will be backward compatible for current titles, but will also be ready for HDR gaming and 4K gaming.

I sure hope there is some trade up deal at gamestop or offered by sony. I have a current PS4 and really enjoy it (although I haven't touched it in a while) and wouldn't want to spend another 400$ just to get an updated console. If I could trade up and pay like 150 I would probably do it.

I doubt they'll give you that much for the old PS4,  but I don't doubt that they will have some kind of trade up.  Current PS4 trade ins are around 100 - 150... so if they do anything, it'll probably be 200 total, then 200 for the new system.

Yeah I figured it wouldn't be a great deal but I can always hope. I like Sony quite a bit, I have Vue, PSnow and psplus, I also have a 4k TV. So I guess I kinda am stuck wanting to get the pro.

It isn't all that necessary though that's the good thing. If you have a 4k TV and really want HDR support those would be the main reasons for it. And a little bit better graphic support.

FYI. PS4's next firmware update will also add HDR support. It's not PS4 Pro exclusive.

I've got a 27" 2k monitor and I can't see a pixel, mind you I'm 52 years old


I couldn't see moving up to 4k unless I going with a 30"+ screen a foot or two in front of my face or a 70"+ screen up on the wall.

Thats a great idea...im guessing that most people that wanted a PS4 already got it so looking for a new market may be difficult

So...Does this mean the current PS4 will run well with the VR device? There were rumors you will need the ps4.5 to run it properly .

People are weird like that,they often do not do things on necessity but more so to be part of some hype trend,the IN thing,sort of like everyone owning cell phones now and treating them better than their children,hugging it holding it,cuddling it.
It would be like some dude coming up to me "hey look i bought 50 lottery tickets",i would be like  "yeah good job,good investment ...lmao".

I look at 4k like i see the VR hype,a complete waste of money.People all have their individual pumped up kicks,some minute things/ideas get people all excited,everyone is different,for some watching paint dry is exciting,for others spending money on anything new or hyped is exciting,seldom ever makes logical sense though.

Scorpio is not out yet and the One S already does what Sony Pro is going to do. (Minus the very powerful graphics bump)
Plus the Playstation 4 Pro will not play 4K BluRay but the Xbox One S already does and so will the Scorpio.
Kind of underwhelmed as a current PS4 owner.

It's weird isn't it? But PS4 couldn't play Blurays at the beginning neither. So, they'll either fix this in a future firmware or they preferred to keep the price down since there aren't many 4k Blurays titles around and people prefer streamed media mostly. 
Or maybe they are already thinking of another PS4 and they want to keep that option for that if 4k Bluray market really picks up. 
I think we'll be seeing the next Playstation in a shorter cycle.

Unless you have a 60" or larger monitor and sit less than 10 feet from it you won't be able to tell the difference between a 1080p and a 4k picture.  4k is for really big monitors or TV's.  Not the stuff we play games on, so the 4k is pretty much just marketing hype.  

The graphics bump though should provide better fps etc.
