Need mmo

mihnea97mihnea97 Member UncommonPosts: 6
I made my first post here more than 1 year ago, and I was looking for a sandboxy open world mmo with some specific features, pretty much an Age of Wushu/Wulin but without pay to win or a dying community. Alas, I was unsuccessful in my quest of finding the right mmo for me and I still have nothing to play, so here I am again asking for your opinion. I will simply paste the text from my other post, since what I'm looking for hasn't changed in the slightest. I will edit it a bit though.

"I'm looking for a sandbox mmorpg with open-world pvp but no permanent death or looting.

Things I'm looking for:

- open world pvp, preferably even in cities, which shouldn't be made in instances - I do not enjoy battlegrounds or arenas, pvp has to be everywhere

- dungeons and raiding (pve)

- lots of professions

- social activities (marriage, being a bounty hunter, training in a group)

- player housing (open world preferably)

- complex/ambiguous skills system (yes, I like that) - AoW used to have a system where you could learn any skills from any school as long as you had the scripts, which you could steal in events or trade for with other players. Alas, you could also buy them with lots of real money.

- emphasis on guilds (guild wars / guild territory / guild wars over territory)

- sandbox feeling, im looking for a game which gives you that feeling that you don't exactly know what you're supposed to do, so you just do random stuff)

Most of these things hint at my favourite game, Age of Wushu. However, I consider that game unplayable because of pay to win and critically low population. I have, however, played that game for over an year and enjoyed it a lot. I've never seen pay to win destroy a game in such a way. It's a shame that snail is doing such a terrible job, the game is amazing. The recommendations don't have to be free to play, I am ok with subscriptions or buy to play."

So yeah, if you guys know of any game that comes close to what I'm looking for, please don't hesitate to reply. The only one I could think of is EVE, and it was recommended in the other thread as well, but I was never able to get into it. I will probably give it another shot at some point if I still can't find anything playable.

Darkfall... its like medieval fantasy version of EVE in some ways.. fun combat and LOTS to do in a HUGE world. Sea battles in boats, mounted combat, dungeons, mob bosses, crafting, player cities, housing, no real safe zones so exciting.

NEWS FLASH! "A bank was robbed the other day and a man opened fire on the customers being held hostage. One customer zig-zag sprinted until he found cover. When questioned later he explained that he was a hardcore gamer and knew just what to do!" Download my music for free! I release several albums per month as part of project "Thee Untitled" . .. some video game music remixes and cover songs done with instruments in there as well! http://theeuntitled.bandcamp.com/ Check out my roleplaying blog, collection of fictional short stories, and fantasy series... updated on a blog for now until I am finished! https://childrenfromtheheavensbelow.blogspot.com/ Watch me game on occasion or make music... https://www.twitch.tv/spoontheeuntitled and subscribe! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCUvqULn678VrF3OasgnbsyA

Rise of Agon or the other one?
both? I dunno I'm testing both games... I'm US so will probably play the one with better ping for me (rise of Agon)..

New Dawn is supposed to do global banking so that would be more like EVE but not sure if I would want that. I'll try it though. Both are still in beta.

Rise of Agon is mostly the classic Darkfall 1.0 with some new features/improvements/tweaks (the inventory/bag system is new and actually functionable)

New Dawn focuses more on sandbox elements, they want to add many new features and change the game in many ways.

For me both are good, you can go try RoA for free till 24 / 10 now!
Sandbox MMORPGs that are not very well-known but definitely worth a look:

Ryzom, Haven and Hearth, Xsyon, The Repopulation, UO private shards, Mortal Online, Darkfall 1 remakes (New Dawn or Rise of Agon), RPG MO, Project Gorgon, EQ: Sanctuary (custom  server)

Wurm online is that one so old but it still lives as the one who has what others don't.

However what it needs is a game on current gen and technology like Wurm Online, right now I couldn't recommend it, only the interface is absolute madness to any new player.

Have to agree on Darkfall: Rise of Agon... Good US ping, and I personally prefer the direction compared to New Dawn. Alliance/Racial warfare thing doesn't appeal to me, prefer the fully open guild warfare ala Rise of Agon.

Try Archeage when 3.0 hits - there will be new servers where only new accounts will be allowed (yes all existing accounts will be ineligible due to account wide labor system would give an advantage)

The new servers will also have all the latest "fair play" rules enforced to eliminate past land hoarding problems by some players.

Also new zones in 3.0 have additional 2500 land plots.

Agreed. Archeage is the closest fit for what the OP is looking for.
