Battlefiend 1, whats the deal?

I'm actually really looking forward to this MMO. I prefer my MMO's with more players than MMO's like Destiny. And since BF1 supports literally 10x the amount of players, I can't wait! The progression system that they have brought up from other games will be decent as usual. Not happy about the impending P2W where you can just purchase progression. I love that my characters progression is persistent at least. 

I skipped BF4 as it was just more BF3.

Since when did multiplayer shooters become MMOs?

Battlefield games have never been considered MMOs before and this one doesn't appear to be any bigger than any previous ones in the series. So what's changed? Also, Destiny isn't an MMO either.

it is not a mmo it is a lobby based (server based really) first person tactical shooter with up to 64 players. not a massive multiplayer online game lol. there is no massive in 64. that aside i can't wait for it to release i loved the beta.

Between "Battlefiend" and calling Destiny an MMO, is this just a troll thread?

• Destiny isn't an MMO.  From what I understand you never have more than 64 players in shared persistent space.
• Battlefield isn't an MMO.  It's a normal FPS with up to 64 players per match.
• The purpose of "MMO" as a term is to distinguish massively multiplayer games from non-massive ones.  The typical max players for FPSes is 64 (which is why FPSes with less that many concurrent players aren't MMOs).
• Battlefield 4 was fantastic. Perhaps the best in the series apart from BF1942. You missed out.

Well 2003's Planetside 1 was a MMOFPS and it was a multiplayer shooter.

But yes, non-massive multiplayer shooters like Battlefield aren't MMOs.
