imageForums Afire with Quest Completion Gated in Normal Raiding

World of Warcraft News - On the very day that World of Warcraft: Legion opened the first wing for LFR players hoping to complete a pair of quests, Blizzard belatedly announced that said quests can only be completed on Normal or higher level of raid difficulty. This has come straight out of the blue, according to players, as it was never part of alpha or beta testing and was not previously announced as "policy".

You know, it's not even that I mind normal raiding -- I am a tank, after all -- but it's the fact that this is another artificially created gate on content for an item with a poor drop rate in order to force people to continue to come back ad nauseum. The fact that it didn't appear in any phase of alpha or beta testing in this way and is not indicated anywhere in the quest description when it's accessed by players and that the issue was "uncovered" by players THE DAY of the first wing of LFR opening is simply awful communication on the part of Blizzard.

If that's the way they want it, fine. But TELL your community for Pete's sake.

Since it is for artifact weapons, I really do not see this as an issue.  Anyone remember EQ Epics?

Well if you have to raid for certain quests, that going to leave a lot of people on the outside looking in.  Trying to raid in a pick up group is an exercise in futility.    Done enough raiding to know that the major quality needed in raiding is excellent team coordination.  Of course it depends on the difficulty of the raid, but Blizzard usually has most new raids set up on difficult settings initially, but I have not seen the new raids yet.

There is going to be a lot of consternation about this.

And I totally agree with the above, why I stopped raiding, having to repeat a raid over and over again so everyone gets the item they need.  That kills any fun in doing a raid quickly.

So much unecessary drama. LFR just came out today. This will get changed.

Big deal it will be fixed. People need to relax, theres no way this won t be fixed.
  • Soki123Soki123 Member RarePosts: 2,558
As I said, they ll change it back. They want to sound like they won t but we all know they will.

I'm not a hardcore raider but I don't see a problem of certain perks being reserved for those that can play the non-faceroll version of raids. Blizzard seem to be trying to influence players to step up and go raiding as it should be 'normal' means normal.

No problem here from my perspective.

This is a more subtle way of Crowfall's devs telling the community to "get gewd" if they want stuff. Lol, already bad enough that they try to push raiding on people when they know around 90% of the community doesn't raid beyond LFR. Its honestly what Blizzard deserves creating a carebear mode in the first place then try to change progression with it after it being around for like 5-6 years. LFR should've always been for people who just want the story and normal+ should've been for people that want to progress. Since you have been able to do both for this long period of time, most of the community doesn't do anything beyond the minimum.

now this is bad development. sad news after praising LFR. you think they would learn how Wildstar has failed with raids.

So Blizzard is not catering to what casual masses want? Must be a bug ;)
I know it bothers a lot of people but I'm pro any decision that would force people into creating guilds and communities. Even PUGs have more humanity in them.

So the complaining is about a cosmetic item and an achievement...ummm what.  Maybe I read something wrong.

Edit:  To the poster below.  How are people going to get to 840 in heroic dungeons?

Yeah sure, artificial.  As opposed to all the real stuff that exists within an artificial game world...

Those two things mean a lot to a large number of players.

Smells like another thing to keep people playing longer.

Now they only need a shop where you can pay up for items if you cant find epic raid group to make the drama better :)

Have you guys tried normals yet?
Normal raiding is VERY easy compared to how it used to be, I made a full PUG and cleared the whole thing in 5 hours.

One of the many problems with Legion that wil soon show. This expansion is definitively not on par with Wotlk, let alone with BC.

People are just desperately wanting WoW to be good again..so they constantly go through the honeymoon period, just to shit on the game a few months after launch..

I mean I can't really blame Blizzard. They are doing everything they can to make WoW better. It's just that the newer MMOs are much better than WoW ever was, and Blizzard just can't meet up with the expectations anymore. Well at least not with their current engine.

Blizzard killed wow for me years ago tried it on and off just can't ever get back into it again...

Original WOW, Great Game, Burning Crusade, okayish for a bit, Later Patches ruined classes and game-play from there (All Down Hill).. Story didn't even make proper sense all the way around Lore was messed up in general a perfectly good genre ruined by Blizzard...

Now its 2016, WOW keeps getting expansions trying to keep players, sure maybe a lot still play the game, but over-all its lacking so many mechanics, (Way too easy) on dungeons, many changes which ruined the fun part of the game such as "Twink" restrictions of applying armor upgrades, (Character Models) being still too far out of date compared to games like "Black Desert) or even (Sky Forge) over-all Blizzard should make (World OF Warcraft 2) without screwing it up...

For example Draeni were okayish for Burning Crusade I think that is where it came in, but the lack of story, adding Blood ELF Lores, and all these other classes like Pandas killed the game for me as well not to mention Talent Changes ruining entire classes Mages of POM, Arcane, Pyro.

Oh and Battle Grounds, losing 90% of games the hard grind for gear just for it to become outdated and need to be upgraded over and over again with no credit towards upgraded gear also not my type of soup, instead the game should just use PVE Gear all around for PVP as well making things much easier, or do (Battle OF Equals) where everyone has same stats and its based off skill and tactics. (Another reason I quit.)

I think the "5 hour" part of your story would be a non starter for those complaining.

Also, most people "join" groups, not form them which can result in fairly long waits to find one.

I did wing 1 on LFR yesterday and I was underwhelmed to say the least. It went by too fast and was too easy even for LFR standards.

This is on top of the requirement of dungeons to finish your professions that they failed to mention and the upcoming bigger one of normal raiding required to be able to fly in Legion. Blizzard is really burning down the barn with their "undocumented" features. Seriously if this wasn't the first appearance in the series with all the others locked behind it that only require world quests and other lower content to unlock... how is that progression? Lock the last appearance behind the raid... not the first! It then wouldn't have been such a slap in the head.

These days an hour is too long to complete anything in a MMO. Once you tack the word raid on I suppose today’s gamers might stretch to two hours with cookies, glass of milk and a comfy cushion. There would have to lots of ding noises though and flashing awards of some kind to keep them attentive to the screen.

The poor fellow organising it would have to keep up the patter full time, you might even need a dedicated group handler, to keep them cuddled and cosseted through the whole two hour ordeal.

Five hours? I would not be able to handle the nervous breakdowns, screaming rants and tantrums. And that’s not even going into those distracted by a Twitter post or the like.

    Pure hell.
