The marketing team for these MMOs create a scene of sandy beaches and sparkling sunsets. However When I find myself playing the very same games I see a diffrent picture. I see outdated technology,
hurried products and poor systems to make up for the lack of time allowed to truely create a masterpeice.

If thousands and thousands of people can enjoy Lineage and Ultima Online or even text based games then one must come to realize that graphics don't really mean shit in terms of retention and customer happyness. Not really and atleast not as much as maybe even the very same people, who tout that a game must have graphics to be good, believe.

Maybe i'm not speaking for everyone, maybe i'm far off into space living in another world, some misconcieved quantom phsyics reprenstation of a stick figure son, backyard and a happy mother in a storm of mad ravens and flying pigs, but I think someone has ran off with these "game descriptions" and
created something entirely diffrent.

Of course we can probley imagine the boy or girl who can turn a wooden sword and a backyard into
a charming kingdom of splendor and glory, where even pirates can sail to for some rare wonderful
mystic ale.

So are the players creating their own game despite the MMO companies actual design? I guess this
is what seperates single player games from MMOs - community and friends.

So sink or swim? Really the real situation is, "Find some friends and enjoy them, they are
the only reason to play, without them you will drown or quit, whichever comes first."

I agree! Without community, no one would play. I hear people all the time say "Community doesn't mean $h!+! But without the community you just wouldn't be playing, period. You might be happy for a few hours even days, but eventually you are gonna miss that online feeling of a living breathing community.

I am a graphics nut, but I will play a good game with bad graphics. As long as it has a kewl community
