The jokes could write themselves here.

But all I'll say is that this couldn't happen to a better company.

Now if only someone would sue Romaine so he can never create a "videogame" ever again.

I'm sure my summons to appear in court for the above  statement should be appearing any day now.

See you make a difference when you write reviews on steam it helped people decide not to spend money on this game. Like I said on the other thread serve this guy right for trying to harass and intimidate reviewers.

James Romine behaves like a nutter from old Spiderman comic books. This is the part where he becomes a "super" villian hell bent on revenge. He falls into a vat of radioactive goop and legal papers, then will be able to shoot frivolous lawsuits from his hands to slow his enemies down.

He just needs a name, hmm...

I've followed the situation with Digital Homicide a little since the whole The Slaugthering Grounds/Jim sterling fiasco.

I think they have tried to release games under a different company after that and got found out.

    Yep they did:

I'm not entirely sure what happened.  But noone has the right to flat out lie about someone else.  Its called "Libel" and its illegal.  Opinions are not subject to Libel but if someone just tells a lie then it definitely is Libel and yes you should get in trouble for it.
Are you onto something or just on something?

I am not a fan or defender of DH.  I'm also not a fan of incorrect information and the spreading of incorrect information.  No one was sued for giving bad reviews or talking about crappy games.  They were sued for threats of injury and death, insults to family, and interference with business.  With a little research on youtube you can find a more complete list of allegations (Jim Sterling had a list in one of his videos, I wish I saved the link).

There is no way a guy who made fat loot like that from cranking out garbage each month is going to give that up and get a regular job.  He will start a new company under a friends name and go right back to cranking out his garbage.  I would be surprised if he is not currently in the process of forming the new company as we speak.

Libel isn't simply "lying about somebody" but I live in the USA and people make up their own meanings to stuff all the time these days so whatever...

You very well cannot sue someone for speaking the truth.  But if they lie about something then yes depending on circumstances you can get in big trouble.  Lets say I decided to write an article for a newspaper about the local restaurant has rats in the back room.  If that isn't true and it hurts their business then they can sue the newspaper for printing a false article.  But if it is true then they can't sue because its the truth.

Like I said I didn't follow on what exactly happened.  But from this OP alone it looks like someone lied to defame the product and they were getting sued for it.

Writing an article in the newspaper is way more detailed than your original "lying about somebody" example.

The problem with libel is it's hard to prove. Using your newspaper local/restuarant example, it is the burden of the accuser to show there was an intentional untruth. The next burden is proving the damage of reputation. It is also necessary to prove the correlation between the alleged lie and the damage of reputation.

So no again, libel isn't simply lying about somebody. Libel is intentionally telling publishing an untruth that directly results in a provable loss of reputation or brand.

I should know, I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express.

I'm thinking they could still sue, the burden of proof would be on you to prove your accusations.

No that is not what happened. In short, the devs went bonkers because people gave their completely crap game a bad review and the situation escalated from there.

I can't image who in the industry would hire him now after trying to sue critics, no employer would want to risk a litigious employee.
