...cause this expansion is the least alt friendly if you just go on wowprogress.com and add up the numbers from US/EU servers, then remove 10-25% due to alts and you'll get the actual numbers of whom Blizzard takes the actually $15 monthly fee or token purchased/traded.

Looking at 200-250k subs and this is the most profitable and popular MMO in the America/EU/Australia market. This says a lot....and so much info can be gathered from this about other MMO's. One thing I still haven't been able to figure out is where/how is Blizzard trying to manage to get those 3.3 mil Legion sales numbers to promote/advertise their product. Most likely Asia where the subs are less than $1 a month.

Finally, if this is how many subs the most popular MMO have imagine the condition of the rest popular MMO's on the market. I would take around 50k subs at best.

I believe the 3.3M included pre-orders which started like 6 months after WoD's release. I could be wrong though. I don't doubt WoW currently has a few million (10M is definitely not believable), but it'll definitely decline fast. People can't really assess numbers based off of server status like they used to because they might have forgot that servers were increased in size to avoid what happened during WoD.

The main issue is that people come to realizations at different times. For some, the artifact system seems great because they dont have much time to deal with it. For others, its just a grind that will be nerfed (and honestly has to be nerfed) within a few months, so they'll probably unsub based off of that. Then you have the minor few like myself that wont really see the point in this system at all since none of this stuff will carry over into the next expansion other than getting to cap (just like every wow expansion of course).

One thing can't be argued is that the things within the artifact system are a step in the right direction (ability bonuses, extra passives, etc) and hopefully a persistent system like that will be added in the next expansion that will continue from then on.

    * Population - amount of unique players that meet any of the two conditions:
    - has a level 110 character that killed something in Tier 19 Heroic Mode
    - has a level 110 character in a guild that killed something in Tier 19 Heroic Mode

Thought about just finding a youtube video of someone pulling numbers out of their ass and posting that...

Honestly the OP's post is worthy of the nutty sark(esian) that their avatar looks somewhat like said person is, more than somewhat hillarious tbh.
Well, given the 'historical' inaccuracies, deja vu there too btw, they probably didn't get the memo about the sub requirements/prices in China, though how i don't know, they certainly kicked up about it enough, seems China doesn't get a free pass, full sub required there too, well the rest of the post the op made was also just as wildly inaccurate that a little thing like that is nothing. O.o

The OPs math is wrong.  Probably underlying assumptions: where that website is getting there stats, are they complete, is it accurate to actually project subs by assuming things about alts, etc.

There is no possible way that wow has less than 1 million subs; the OP is way off base imo [and I dont even play wow!]

Not totally sure where the OP is going but i THINK i know.

I think he/she is basically saying that MMO's are not doing well.
That is ok with me,because yes there are SOME mmo's but mmo's are not played like a mmo world should be,instead they SHOULD be called single player games with a login screen.
I have to repeat what i am about to say for the umpteenth time because reading many threads has told me,MANY people still don't get it.

The ONLY reason 90% of the MMPO's carry that title is because it allows them to add a login screen which in turn allows them to create a way to continually grind money out of players.I already made the point that these games really are nothing more than a single player game, however single player games are a one time sell,no more money coming in.This whole MMO idea is just a way to get more money from a game that no way in hell deserves more money.

MOST games i see are barely worth 5 bucks,10 bucks if i am extremely generous.I say this because MOST games i would not buy...period,so in actuality, they are worth nothing to me.Devs have somehow, magically lured people into giving them money for unfinished products, single player games on an ongoing process. In MANY cases people  are spending 200...500++ on games that should be sold as crappy single player games for 5-10 bucks in some Wall mart bargain bin.

I feel for those who really enjoy the game. I mean, one of the reasons I quit was the waves and waves of fanboys playing it because everyone is so must be good, right?

WoW's popularity came naturally, with little to no effort. But the way they tried to maintain it burnt the game for me. Was really hard to sip from that cup of "We are playing this and it is good because it gets this much money on sells and subs so this is the best ever" and every post about a problem within the game would be buried by that kind of comment while you had to face things like Thrall's shitty WC3 model sitting around a camp in Draenor.

Blizzard was getting money and not putting a dime back in the game, at that time. And never had to until the numbers started to lower, because people would play and ignore the problems. That was a sad thing - but I belive it was an Activision calling and not Blizzard's.
That is one thing that bothered me about the game was I met so many people who did really just play it because alot of other people were......

Now, if OP stated 2-2,5 million players I could take her serious (still need more proof though) but 200-250K would drop Wow below FF XIV and that is just very unlikely. Wow would have been F2P long before those numbers. Sorry, but I don't believe the math.

Legion definitely increased WoW subscription but I know that the numbers have started to decline.  Blizzarded added sharding and cross-realm integration so that they can use fewer servers and still make low pop servers look busy.  While Legion has a ton of grinding it's all pretty boring.  I would probably still be subscribed but I really hated the changes that they made to every class.  At least classes were fun to play in the last few expansions, even if the content wasn't interesting, but it feels like Blizzard is trying to port WoW to consoles.
