I am surprised all the Psych majors haven't jumped in this thread. Some of you need some real  help...like everyone that marked "Yes". Kidding! just kidding. Sort of.

If you want a new idea, go read an old book.

In order to be insulted, I must first value your opinion.

Personally I think staring at a dudes shapely glutes (a typical male toon) for 100s of hours is more gay.
Why would you stare at ANY character's ass while playing? That doesn't sound gay, it sounds borderline creepy. If you can't avoid "staring" at your virtual character's ass, well...
Did I touch a nerve?  Your character's ass is basically center stage in every MMORPG.  You may not be staring at it, but you're definitely looking at it for all of the time you're playing.  You will almost never see your characters face.
I've been playing Tree of Savior lately, so the camera doesn't follow behind your character.  Rather, you see the front of your character about as often as the back.  Before that, I played Elsword for most of a year.  That's side view, so you don't see the front or back of your character straight on very much.

But even in games where the camera does follow behind your character, I tend to zoom out far enough that I'm not really staring at my character at all.

I always play female characters and create them to be VERY attractive to me because I am going to be spending so many long nights alone with her. I will gladly admit I've had bizarre romantic relationships with my Avatars. Sitting alone with her for 6-10 hours in the late night hours nobody else to talk to..  Hell yea I want her to look smoking hot.

Funny side note, back in the early days of EQ before we had voice chat so commonplace, had a guilldmate fall in love with my avatar/me. He would not believe me when I said I was a guy and he would hit on my constantly even offering to leave his wife to be with me ( my avatar ). Was funny at first but then it became obvious it was like a creepy obsession. And think about what the EQ toons look like even though I was a wood elf it really wasnt that hot.

In almost every game I try to make a character that looks as much like me as possible, even going so far as to use the height sliders and everything.

The only time I stray from that is when I make theme characters. "what if I make a really big hairy character" or "what if I make a tiny female elf ranger" or y'know...  basically I'll have a me lookalike character and then a way different character because I want a change of pace.

Yeah when I played ArcheAge I went as far as to take a picture of my face from the front and the side. Spent about an hour adjusting things, then had my fiance check it out  and I readjusted it based on her feedback. Was pretty cool though, it didn't look perfectly like me because of the limitations given but the customization was great enough that there was a strong resemblance.

i usually play female because im attracted to female.

i will make her very good looking, have big boobs, curvy body and pretty face with white skin, the image of my dream girl.

her personality and how i play her will be very much like me.

That right there is why I play exclusively male characters. My fiance can always pick out female characters that are actually played by men. Usually just by appearance but always by the personality behind them. I like my characters to be consistent so I always put myself in the shoes of a character who I can identify with.

Very few men can think and act like females and very few females can think and act like men so I always just kind of roll my eyes when someone says they are "role playing" a character of the opposite gender.

I do play male character sometimes.

When i create male character it will be attractive too (not sexual way)

I usually create a male character like Nero (devil may cry 4), Leon S Kennedy(resident evil 4)..a cool looking dude.

Im dark skinned (like indian) but i like to choose fair skin for my character.

My lust for vanity drives me to do certain things that I never wanted to. I just want my characters to look cool, that's it.
  • Jill52Jill52 Member UncommonPosts: 85
Out of all the thought I put into my character creation that is not something I even consider. My thoughts are mostly centered around making a character that complements my personality and that I won't get bored with even after many years of playing. I really could care less if anyone else finds my character attractive or not.
  • SteelhelmSteelhelm Member UncommonPosts: 332
I usually don't try make my characters attractive but interesting/different. So no.

I'm kinda the same way. But different. O.o

Take for instance "western" MMO's like ESO, TOR, WoW etc. I will almost always make a male character (my gender) and try to make him look realistic as possible in games like ESO and TOR. In games like WoW that have cartoony graphics I will try to make a badass super-duper cartoony looking one, if that makes any sense.

In 'eastern" games like BDO, Archage etc I usually make a female character and make her look as stupid and homely as possible because I find that kind of over-sexualized character creation a joke and an insult to male gamers. Kinda like a " fuck you I won't make a saccharin sweet digital representation of a blow-up doll because I'm a horny male" type of thing.
