Wait, let me get this straight. Regardless of my level I can roam the world and quest anywhere and get rewards/loot appropriate for my level? This seems too awesome. I must have misunderstood something.

Yes, you have it correct. Go nuts.

I often spend my time now wandering around picking up quests and getting lost. Now when I open my map I'm like WOW, how the hell did I end up in this area....? The game doesn't feel like zones any more.

That is exactly what I'm doing and the feeling I have. It's odd. I didn't expect my perception of the world and zones to change so much.
That's great news as that is how I usually play the single player games. I can't wait to see the changes, just haven't had time yet.

Sounds like we might actually have a legit PvE sandbox then.

Nah, just more PVE themepark, with horizontal-progression taste.

Well, Hive made it sound more interesting but it still looks so bland. I don't know if I want to download it and spend an hour or two playing again only to uninstall it before levelling. Again. For the fourth time.

I wonder if he appreciates the irony in the part where he says that the game is "more about horizontal progression than vertical progression" and then he levels up?

Unless of course that's on purpose then "cheerfully withdrawn".

I'm not much for leveling down. After all, why go through that much effort to level up if I can't come back to my old stomping grounds and absolutely crush anything that dares annoy me into digital dust for it's termerity!
If I'm in someplace lower level than me, I either want vicious revenge on an old foe, or I want to quickly harvest some kind of mob, or I don't want to be bothered by the local trash. After all, I've probably adventured there a lot and am not there for the scenery.
    Oh well.

Lost my mind, now trying to lose yours...

The game doesn't level you down. Basically what it does is it scales you (and everything else) up to the highest level.

Only thing you need to do is upgrade your gear (since if your gear is lower level it won't scale well) and get more skill points.

    Basically:

If you are a lvl 5 in level 5 gear you have the same stats as a lvl 50 in lvl 50 gear.
If you are a level 50 in level 5 gear, you are a level 50 in level 5 gear.

Tell me when they've reworked crafting, then I'll give it another try.

And yet another added feature that Warcraft did first...

What feature? A whole world where anyone could go anywhere? If that's the case then "no" warcraft certainly did not do it first. If it's the adjustment of levels then guild wars (guild wars 2?) did that first though leveling down.

If you don't own the DLC you will need to buy it or subscribe. Subscribing a month might be the cheapest way to see everything. You could check out every area and then buy it if you like it. You get 1500 crowns for the subscription per month so in a couple months of sub you could buy it anyway.

I buy the sub for the crafting bag and the buffs. If I like an area I just buy it anyway.

Can you elaborate a bit please?
Newly added content is unlocked as long as you are subed, but if you cancel your sub,you lose access to that content and you have to buy it?

Lol I called it in another thread that someone here would soon claim WOW did this first.

Not quite. DLC is supposed to be something you buy. Getting to use it without buying it is just one of the sub perks, but you never have to sub if you don't want.

Also for anyone buying the game right now, the newly released gold version has the first 4 DLC included. Only the Shadow of the Hist DLC isn't part of it.

    ....sigh

People actually praising this terrible idea?

I would expect this from Blizzard but this is just removing any and all immersion.

Encourages exploration?LMAO yep if you have such a bad game, just eliminate everything and turn it into a meaningless world of quest for xp.
Simple question....why bother to quest for xp if you really have no level from xp?It is like a contradictory idea but hey not like they have a clue.

I don't care if a game wants to remove levels, but you absolutely NEVER turn the world lore into meaningless dribble, basically everything is level 1 or level 501,well which is it,oh nm they really have no association, the dev took that away.

Next up,,bakers will remove apples from apple pie and people will praise it with statements like "i never liked apples anyhow".

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

Speaking of clues... you really don't know anything about ESO, do you?

Yes there are levels still... not that this has ever been the main point of ESO. Leveling up skill lines independently from your own level is what this game has always been about.

Leveling gives you points you can put into your basic health, stamina or magicka stats AND skill points you can put into whatever skill lines you're leveling... some of those skill lines can't even be leveled fully until well past the max character level of 50.

And your character leveling only gives you about 1/4 of the skill points you can get in the game. The rest you get from quests, dungeons and exploration.

Its an amazing idea and well implemented. It makes the world feel much more "real" or immersive to not have the artificial separation of the world into levels of difficulty like in most rpgs. It basically lets you explore the world and do whatever you want at any level.

Character progression is based mainly on getting more skilled at using certain weapons/armor/schools of magic by using them in fights. You can take on many challenges at low levels with just the first easily obtained skills, but as you progress you get a wider range of options to deal with any given challenge and/or can specialise increasingly more in certain areas.

Not sure what you mean about "turning the world lore into dribble" - lore wise the game is exactly the same. If you are talking about the relative power of monsters, it is actually much more like a typical ES game now (therefore more in line with the world lore).
