The question is easy, what current MMO has the most enthralling Epic story line(s), which has your favorite stories...  Which has best overall story telling?

Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)

SWTOR for me, at least through the initial campaign. Killing Lord Baras at the end of the Sith Warrior campaign and becoming the Emperor's Wrath was one of the most satisfying moments I've ever had in MMOs and in the top 10 for all gaming for me.

SWTOR > FFXIV > All the rest

SW:TOR for me also, still think the agent storyline is the best one, the choices made that define your character, definitely one of the best parts of this game.

I chose SWTOR.  But I've never played TSW so it may have got my vote if I had bothered playing it.

I couldn't decide between FFXIV and WoW. But I picked WoW anyways. I love FFXIV but I'm biased towerds Warcraft lore and most of the Legion quests are mind blowing so... ^^ I'll never forget the Val'sharah storyline.

has to surely be LOTRO given the story around it lol , i could consider star wars 2nd, but has to to be tolkein and his world hands down (and given most mmo woudn't exist without tolkein and his idea of a fantasy world)  its been argued that tolkien even created the idea of evil orcs etc...
imagine MMO / games without the evil orc (just one example)

This post is all my opinion, but I welcome debate on anything i have put, however, personal slander / name calling belongs in game where of course you're welcome to call me names im often found lounging about in EvE online.

I loved the humor and surprises of the Sith Sorcerer story line. Probably my favorite in any MMO ever.

My 2nd favorite is probably the Wilderking story line in ESO. Sad and very well written.

If LOTRO is not #1 there is something wrong with this "poll".

I think SWTOR's story lines are the best thing going for it. That being said, I don't think SWTOR has the best stories.

I have to admit I'm partial to WoW lore and good storytelling. I thought the EQ franchise had strong lore and good stories as well. I liked the GW2 story, and the main story line in FFXIV.

To pick a favorite would be hard.

Despite all of its fatal flaws, I really enjoyed Wildstar's lore and story telling.

Considering how much I love the Star Wars universe, I really thought SWTOR would be my jam, but I just couldn't get into it enough to appreciate any of the story elements. There is just something about the game play/aesthetic that turn me off every time I try to play it.

It's also worth mentioning that I am invested in the WoW story line simply because I've been playing Warcraft games since the beginning. I've even read several of the books.

When SWTOR really began to shine was on my 2nd play through as Sith Warrior. I got bogged down on my first and ended up quitting the game for several months but came back when they offered the huge experience gains and the ability to follow the main story line exclusively without the necessity of all the side quests. That's when everything took off and compelled me all the way through the end of the main story. What made it doubly good was playing through with a friend on a different quest line, also Empire, and seeing her lore as well. That doubled down on the entire game for both of us.

I have to admit that I haven't felt compelled the same way to play through Hutt Cartel, Revan or even KotFE, though I am now playing through the latter and am liking it. Still, I miss sharing with my partner in crime. Hopefully the next expansion will bring back the ability to play together and to share the stories our characters are facing.

FFXIV - by a long way. Stands out on it's own for the way it builds interactions between your character and  npc's. It builds emotions for what happens to them, good and bad.

A lot of those games had good stories.  One that wasn't on the list was Aion.  They had some really good stories, like catching 'Lightening'  an NPC that ran pretty fast and if you caught him you got a title 'bottled lightening' that increased your movement speed, nice quest.  Loved some of their stories.

I enjoyed playing the main and side quests once or twice but eight times, once for each class was boring and I'm glad they allowed me to skipped the side quests and just concentrate on the main ones for the different classes.  Now it's one quest for every class so only worth playing once or twice again.

    Current vote goes to ESO.

There was nothing like the lead up to The Wrath of The Lich King and sailing to Northrend though. WoW nailed the lore, story and atmosphere with that one.

Age of Conan, City of Tortage was a great roller coaster ride of questing. Rift was decent also.  Nice stories in SWG.

As much as I can't stand FUncom for how they absentee landlord their titles. This is horse sh!t.

The Secret World has some of the most unique and awesome story and questing I've ever played. You DID miss something. You should check it out if not at least for the feel and atmosphere of Solomon Island alone. Some of the cooler quests have absolutely NO hand holding so you have to pay attention trust yourself and turn general chat off.

SWTOR is the only game I actually followed and cared about the storyline. Class storyline quests were one of the highlights of that game.

Unfortunately it's gone the WoW path of dumbing itself down so much that nothing, not even a good storyline, could make that game worth playing anymore until they add character customization back in.

I REALLY am sorry about that because some of the new expansions look like they have VERY interesting stories. But the moment I got to level 10 on my new character and saw skill trees were gone I instantly lost all will to slog through such a crappy game and promptly uninstalled.

I think you have to do flashpoints to get the full story.
Are you onto something or just on something?

Vanilla GW2 stories are crap, HoT ones are much much better.
