Your top Skyrim mods for HD

Now that the special edition of Skyrim has come out, I'm thinking of giving it a go again. I never really got into Skyrim the first time around because I found it mostly bleak and gray. It was cool enough to make it to level 45 or so, but I didn't spend nearly as much time playing that as I did Morrowind or even Oblivion.

But I also only played Vanilla Skyrim. People say mods make the game a lot better, but I have no idea where to start. I know where to get mods, but there are so many, it's kind of overwhelming.

So what are your personal favorite must have mods for Skyrim? Do we have to wait for more mods for the new edition?

None because the idiots have decided that Mods, with the special edition, disable Achievements.

For the original (where you can still get achievements with mods) I'd say SKSE, SkyUI, unofficial Legendary patch (fixes all bugs).  Then I heavily enjoy ALL the Towns and Villages content + Sounds of Skyrim (there are quite a few).  HD Plants and Vurts Floral Overhaul for looks.

Well, seeing as you have to get them from Bethesda directly, i don't think it is worth it, there are so many good mods you can get through the steam workshop, for free, that its unreal, not having access to them in the SE version, makes it something of a joke.
The SE is really an upgrade for consoles, without mod support on PC, its not worth it.

First thing I would do is change the FoV from 70 to 90 and turn off godrays in the ini files. I find the game unplayable otherwise.
From there. SkyUI, an ENB or ReShade, CBBE, and Whatever the main male body mod was. An ENB or ReShade may not work well with the volumetric fog.
