It may be larger in terms of number of players or size of world but as @DMKano has pointed out, the devs have described it as a survival style game much like ARK.

My guess DnL will have more persistent character progression than Ark, but to what extent? I don't really know..

Man that looks cool. I resisted playing Ark for a year after people told me to try. Best in sandbox and survival. It's so creepy not knowing what is out there in the darkness or people hiding in the jungle. Only thing I didn't like was that you couldn't learn all the techs (w/e they are called). Guess that is understandable though.

The title is being touted as a "true sandbox" in which players can explore 40,000 km² of land and build houses or even create entire kingdoms. Tons of different roles will be available for players to take on, including fighter, hunter, and treasure hunter.

I think he means, everyone can make a char on it but only x amount of ppl can enter the server, after that maybe a que, my guess.

So if there actually is up to 1000 people online at a time thats a pretty good amount, unless of course spread out across too much area. 

Which on the PVP server might not be a bad thing either.

Then again, might be a challenge to play with your friends if you are locked out.
