Maybe the Worst game of the year review.

The game Link-realms. Has far surpassed my expectations in... nothing at all. The choppy combat and lack luster general concept fall so far short of even mentioning I'm having trouble writing this. After one whole week of testing I can safely say this game is not worth your time. And apart from the many flaws it brings with it, It is still, at the end of the day, only a wana be copy of Ultima Online. By wana be - I mean Ultima online was such a great game, that its not hard to grasp a few key concepts from that game and make something playable that a niche audience would enjoy, by niche I'm talking at least 200.... Link Realms has maybe 20, on a good day. 

In order to excel at this game, you will have to purchase "credits" with real $, With enough money you can have a maxed out toon in about a day, As well as a wonderful home to rest safely in while the rest of the world burns. However if you do not spend the $, you will enjoy months, and months of grinding and farming, only to fall shot of the players who are able to increase the durability of their armor with real world cash, where you are left with no option at all. this feature is NOT available to free players. Along with many others...

I've seen a link to this "thing" you've posted on the linkrealms forum and wow. I've been playing Linkrealms on and off for a couple years now, sure there are many criticisms that can be moved to the game, but this is all MADE UP. maybe you got rekd in game and are taking revenge?

• skill gain is very fast, like, maybe 5 times faster than ultima online (I'm also a big fan)? I remember it was quite slow long ago, but it's been fast for a long time now
• you can buy a house (realm) using in game money (silver). takes a couple hours to get enough silver to buy a claim stake from a bank NPC that makes your house last for a week
• there is nothing in the item mall that gives you skill points or makes your skill gains faster

I haven't paid a $ to play in the last few months.. the only thing I need are repair tools sometimes (like you mentioned) and I buy them from other players easy...

maybe whe Worst Review i have seen on al my live, i founded LR just 1 week ago and i played on dayly for the last week
facts for a 1 week player
- I got a nice house with a moster traping devise (12k ingame gold for 1 week) and unlimited edition posibility, i still learning how to use the editor tought,and beguining to plan how to make a farm of my own (i need food)
- got GM (100) on 5 skills, going to get the 6 to get good gear after all
- the comunity on the pve server is so helpful that they pull me after several dungeons to get epic Loot ;D
- the game is on alpha state so is normal to have disbalance nad OP players always populate de PVP server

i guess the PVP server is not a good place to get a review ;D done ;D, man thats for PROS ;D

If this is some kind of reverse psychology to get me to try the game. . it worked.  Looking into it now.  Will not likely return with review

After playing for a few hours . . I was really enjoying myself.  After getting over some of the clunkyness it did remind me a lot of UO but with more narrative depth.

What is it that makes it Pay to WIn?  I didn't look at the store for too long but I didn't see anything crazy when I did.  how does owning land let you stay safe.?  If you want to only run around your own house I would imagine this is true.  I will need some more info. . also how does the "world burn" if you don't own a house.  

I do appreciate your playing as long as you did and coming here to share.  After playing and liking the game for a few hours I thought I would come back and read what you said again to maybe save myself some time.  If you really did take one for the team. . please let us know a few more details.  I don't want to re-learn something you have already figured out.

I'm playing on the PvP server. . only a few hours.  I have at least 5K currency so the housing doesn't seem bad and I am a newb.  There are certainly some ePeens in the bank though talking trash sometimes :)0

You didn't see anything crazy because there isn't (IMHO). Having a house is useful for cultivations and training your skills, but it's not a must have... and anyway you can buy it with in game money too so I don't know what's the problem with that guy.. who also deleted all his posts on the Linkrealms forum and gave his password to a veteran player - but that password was also for his personal accounts like email and such XD
