July Update : Oh My!

LowdosLowdos Member Posts: 644

I was not expecting this from SE :

"Introducing the Fellowship Quest

The Fellowship Quest will be added in the next version update. After completing the quest, you will receive an item that will allow you to call an NPC to come to your aid!

Adventure together, defeat fearsome monsters together, and gain experience together! That's right--your NPC friend can also gain experience and level up alongside you! After you've fought a few battles together, your ally might show up wearing new gear the next time you call for it! This new feature will open up the excitement of Vana'diel like never before!

The next version update coming in mid-July is full of new adventures and features designed to maximize your enjoyment in Vana'diel. Keep your eyes peeled for more information!

Wow, unexpected. Good news, but I hope this isn't SE's big plan to attract more casual players ::::39:: .

hmm, henchmen in ffxi, i quit ffxi a little while ago, tempting to try it again. then again, will this be available to low level char's if not.   image

the inability to find groups, or to be able to solo at all well, is a major downside to the game! this could remedy that.

Wouldn't get my hopes up too high... Knowing SE's implementation of quests in FFXI for far less meaningful things, it wouldn't at all surprise me if the quest is in 10 parts, no part having any clear connection with the next, and you'll have to have an alliance of players of a very specific race/job makeup for at least one part of it... then once you've completed the 10 parts, you'll have to come back in 5 real world days to receive the item.

I love so much about FFXI. I played for about 1.5 years and actually miss alot about playing it. But the enormity of some quests for such comparatively small rewards just drives me out of my mind.

I can't see the fellowship concept really opening up "soloing" that much. Many of the mobs worth fighting for the XP require at least a 5 member party to take on.
