Trying this one last time before I give up completely on the genre.

This is my last attempt at this. If I can't find anything to play, I'm just going to move on from the MMORPG genre for a while.

These are the games I've already played to some extent or another:

- World of Warcraft (went back to it just before Legion hit, leveled from 1-85 in a couple days.. bored to tears from running pug dungeons and questing over and over.)
- Black Desert Online (Started out liking this, but got bored really quickly.. monotonous.)
- Tera (The combat is great, but it just gives me a headache after a while, and the combat is really all it has going for it.)
- Blade and Soul (I'm not entirely sure why I didn't play this more. I liked how story driven the beginning seemed.)
- Rift (I mean, if I want to play WoW.. I'll just play WoW.. it's a nice game, but it's a little too much like WoW for my tastes and not enough different.)
- Guild Wars 2 (I know it's the PVP game of PVP games, but I prefer open world PVP over instanced. The PVE was pretty okay.)
- Archeage (I liked this one a lot when I first started playing it. A lot of awesome concepts applied poorly. I hear there's a fresh start server happening.. but will that make it any less P2W? Probably not..)
- The Elder Scrolls Online (I liked this okay. It was stupid linear, and I hate how drab everything is, but I understand that's Elder Scrolls for ya. Again, don't like instanced PVP.. it seemed all but pointless. Half the time nobody is fighting each other.)
- Darkfall (This had the potential to be a game changer. It unfortunately suffered from all sorts of issues, and it just always felt like a shell for what could have been an amazing sandbox experience.)
- Final Fantasy XIV (As a FFXI vet, I was hoping this would be FFXI-2 but it's not even close. It's story driven, and I like that.. but there's no real form of PVP, and I still have plenty of offline Final Fantasy games that are probably better than this to play and don't cost money per month to play.)
- Lord of the Rings Online (Clunky Combat, no PVP)
- Age of Conan (Extremely linear, but had fun combat. I didn't like how boxed in I felt. I did like the PVP and the brutalness of it though.)
- Final Fantasy XI (This was my jam back in the day! I've spent more time on this game than any other outside of WoW. Too bad it's nothing like I remember it. The only game I've ever played where I could deal with there not being any PVP. The only reason I left for WoW was because it had shiny PVP and it was new.)
- Eve (Can't do the spaceship outerspace thing.)
- Star Wars The Old Republic (Not big enough of a fan of Star Wars to get into this.)
- Everquest 2 (Just couldn't get into it..)
- Aion (See above)

Okay, this is starting to get long winded. If it's a AAA MMORPG, I've played it. I've even played some of the lower tier asian/korean grinders. This is probably not helping my case any.

Here's what I'm looking for. I'm willing to revisit ANY game should they fit this criteria.

- Large world with lots of exploration. Don't box me in.
- Playerbase large enough to actually have people to play with.  I want to do more than run random dungeons with strangers. There needs to be a real social aspect to the game. I want to make new friends and have people to do things with.
- It would be great if there weren't ways to spam dungeons.. in other words, if you're running a dungeon.. you have to GO there. It's not a deal breaker, but I'd rather stay away from games with dungeon finders if possible. I'm really sick of random dungeon running games.
- OPEN WORLD PVP (in caps for emphasis.) I should be able to run into skirmishes with other players out in the world on at least a semi regular basis. I don't need rewards for doing it, but that's a bonus if there is a reason other than the fun of it.
- Don't care if there is instanced PVP if the above exists, in fact I'm not interested in instanced PVP at all.. could care less if the game even has it.
- Story driven content. I want to be immersed into my character and the world I'm in.
- Multiple things to do outside of questing. I like mini games and other things to participate in. Crafting counts here, but so does housing and any other mini game type aspect.. card games, pet battles, all of those type things...Anything that isn't the main quest/dungeon content.
- Reasonably decent graphics. Don't care about the art style as long as it's pleasing to the eye.
- Something that I can play for a few hours here and there and not feel like I'm completely wasting my time. I don't want games that require me to spend 100s or 1000s of dollars a month in cash shop items to keep up. If it's going to cost me more than a 14.99 a month sub fee to stay in the game, then no thanks.
- I prefer F2P or B2P but I won't rule out sub based games. I'm also not looking for P2W cash shop games.. see above.

I think that about covers it.. so..... give me some new suggestions, or old ones with new reasons for why they make sense for me?

Well other than the OW PvP , you may want to try Project Gorgon out , it meets most other criteria , or you could try UO and stay in Felucca for that OW PVP ...

I'm playing vanilla WoW on a private server and it's amazing.

Nostalrius is relaunching as Elysium and Kronos is a good option as well. It's not just nostalgia and is a breath of familiar but fresh air from the current crop of utter crap.

    Age Of Wushu

One of the most under rated mmos on the market. It has pretty much everything you said you are looking for.  ;)

What you need is not a game per se... But a guild/clan. A group of people who share your playstyle.

This have been a good conversation

Large world with lots to explore is extremely hard to find anymore.....I think alot of us are looking for that...The problem is so many MMOs are hellbent on making the gameworld a questathon that there is really nothing to explore because every inch of the game is for quest purposes.

I do not see Dark Age of Camelot on your list.

That said, Camelot Unchained, a game that will be coming out relatively soon is my choice for your game.  Beta will likely start somewhere around January.

If you are giving things just one more try with the requirements from your list as a guide, that would be it.

The list was starting to get really long. I've played that too, and I'm not really big on the RvR PVP. I'm more of an "out in the world at random" guy.

No man, no.  It's time for a break.  Maybe revisit things in a year or two.  I've read comic books since I was 12 years old.  In my mid-30's, I took a break for a couple of years after I found that I was simply no longer enjoying them.  I started reading again a few years later, fell in love again and now read more than ever.  If you're burned out, only time off may change things for the better.

That's the sad part.. outside of trying the few new games that have come out.. I've mostly not played in that amount of time already. I haven't played anything past level 10 or so in forever.

I don't know how you made it this long. This is probably the worst time to be an MMORPG fan, as we are currently drowning in shallow waters.

you will never get games, movies,tv shows that are really good or their money`s worth,it`s only there to put their conditioning in.

When I gave up on MMOs because I couldn't find anything that caught my attention like things used to, I started playing MOBAs like Smite, and now, League of Legends.

Give mmos a break and play some single player games.  So many amazing games available now and even more launching soon.  Never only experience one genre.  You won't even realize the gems you will miss.

FWIW I happen to know that Darkfall: Rise of Agon will be taking Darkfall from the shell it was and turning it into the deep sandbox we all thought we were getting. Just saying. Maybe take a break and come back when it releases and see :)

You didn't leave MMORPGs, the devs of those games left you when they chose easy money and lazy design.

Personally I say take a break go play some single player games for a few months and come back.  There are a couple Open World PvP games being made right now but you will have to wait.  Those type of games are really niche and it can be hard to find a one that you like.  So take a break do some other stuff and come back refreshed.  I do this all the time myself.  I take a couple months go do other stuff and come back and see what's new or go thru a rotation of games I still play.
