Just wondering what resolution most of us on this website are using.
Are you onto something or just on something?

You forgot 1200. I still like 16:10 better than 16:9.

I'll sometimes use 2715x1527 if the games optimized for it.

4320x2560, if the game can handle it.  And 144 Hz, too, which you can't do on a 4K monitor.  High resolutions make most text vanish in Trove, so I have to reduce it to about 4K there.  And text from cutscenes or global system announcements massively lags Elsword, so I have to play that at only 3600x1600.

1080p works best for me as 4k tends to be a bit laggy in some situations. Probably due to my pc and monitor not designed for 4k.

This isn't a signature, you just think it is.

    I am also using 1200.

I have a dell U2410, which is probably a lot different from what a lot of people use.  The next monitor I get will depend a bit on the video card I am using at the time.  I have a 1060 in my box right now.  It is an i7-950 (yes old but still good).  When the computer finally dies(assuming it lasts long enough for volta), I'll know the resolution my next monitor will be.

1080 monitor and 4k whenever I can use the tv.

  • GladDogGladDog Member RarePosts: 1,097
My ancient eyes won't let me use a higher rez than 1080p - I can't easily read the text at higher resolutions.  I suppose if I put a 46" TV on my desk, I could do 4K, but that creates its own set of problems...

    2560x1080 here.

Having a hard time to get older titles displayed properly in 21:9.
Menus shifted, picture cropped etc.. using a ton of third party tools like injectors, borderless window-tools, taskbar remover and such.

But i would never go back from that aspect ratio.

1080p, but 144hz and 1 ms response time.  I will own every one of you 2kers in PVP.  Come at me.

Ehm - latency to game server is what matters, so those that have sub 10ms latency for example to the game server will own a 140ms latency player with a 1ms response time monitor.

    Come on man!

Also those 1ms response times are usually marketing schtick and nowhere near "real world" response time - just FYI
Depends on if the action is being check server-side or client-side.  On client-side checks, like fps hitscan hits, it most certainly is important and no, the 10ms latency guy will not have an edge on hits.

In any case, all things being equal, it's an edge.  The 144hz is an edge too, as you can track people better.

It's true it's not actually 1ms but, again, it's subject to the same kind of inflation other ms response times are.  It certainly is faster than normal monitors.

Just for a real-world example, my accuracy is up in Overwatch since I got this thing and hitscan heroes feel MUCH better.

I mean, ping is very important, but you can actually play around it (by leading your projectile shots for example).  You can't play around your computer responding slowly to your actions or your monitor displaying half as many frames per second.  Even if you could, why would you want to play around your own system if you can help it?

Of course all of this is mostly only important in FPS games, and you can find much better graphical display in slower monitors.  It depends on what you're looking for.

2K mostly for almost 10 years now and yes I can tell the difference

Please do not respond to me, even if I ask you a question, its rhetorical.

I am still gaming at 1920 X 1080p and will remain there for the foreseeable future. I have a top notch 24 inch Samsung monitor which can go well above 60 fps. With my GTX 970 i play everything maxed out. This set up fulfills my gaming needs and i do not see any reason for an upgrade.

Maybe in 2 or 3 years.
  • filmoretfilmoret Member EpicPosts: 4,906
Well I didn't realize that 1440 and 2k are basically the same thing.

I'm generally lower because I usually game in bed, so I'm 15 feet away from the screen and most games don't allow me to scale the UI. Otherwise 1080.

I don't see the point in getting any higher.

I mine as well game on a movie theater sized projector screen if I do get higher. Pun intended.

    I'm kidding.... xD

3x 1080p Monitors is how I play most of my games.  I could upgrade to 4k, but I value the extended peripheral vision in my games over higher resolution to be perfectly honest.  Especially in racing games, where it's non-negotiable to be able to see out of the side of the car and check your mirrors.

2K. 4K doesn't seem worth it on the size of screen I prefer (27"). It is a huge upgrade from 1080p though. 2560 x 1440 on a Dell screen.

I run on 4K resolution of a 30-bit monitor in order to experience full HDR.
