Heroic Games Corporation have put a team of developers and designers together to work on this homage, headed up by company CEO Casey McGeever, who recently left mobile publishers AccuWeather to assemble this team for his dream project.
Ship of Heroes promises "family friendly PvP/PvE gameplay" set in a self-sustaining space biosphere, with gameplay built around fighting, crafting, missions, rewards, teamwork and deep customisation.
You can check out the in-development first large city level on the Ship of Heroes site. A character creator, animations, movement and combat will also be showcased in the coming months, with a crowdfunding event following in April and May next year. If successful, they will build out the prototypes from there.

I've got a feevah, and the only prescription... is more cowbell.
Not that that'll save it or not, of course.
Which two of the other "three" are you referring to? There's 'City of Titans', 'Valiance Online' and 'Heroes and Villains'.

If Ship of Heroes can deliver, damn right I will play it. But until I get my hands on it, I'm still in the H&V corral.
ADDED AS EDIT
Wow, this game looks a whole lot like CoH, down to the classes and gameplay. I really hope they get away with it, but I bet NCsoft makes them change some things so it isn't so identical.
The world is going to the dogs, which is just how I planned it!
It also mentioned they will be starting a Kickstarter in March of next year? So is this currently being worked on or are they just getting concept ideas and promo screens for their campaign?
Thanks, Paigey! I'll keep an eye out for this one!

On Topic:
The site uses quite a bit of CoH's assets. Controllers are not mentioned. The "cut and paste" Photoshop (MS Paint?) pix are bad, especially the character creation screen. As others have said, if they're starting development now, it will be tough for them, but they are mashing up 2 IPs: CoH with Star Trek.

Yeah. I haven't even checked them out and I know that there's a >95% chance that it'll be nothing but vaporware. It's been just over four years since CoH shut down and the three dedicated spiritual successors have all been in development at least three and a half years. Even if Heroic Games Corporation commits to the game and get it to an acceptable alpha state the market would be effectively saturated by the other three because they'll be launching so much sooner. There just won't be enough room for a fourth game and their game would be canceled before ever reaching open beta, if it even made it to closed beta.
I may be wrong, and you can do whatever you like, but I strongly advise against anyone supporting the kickstarter for this game until it has progressed enough to reach an early alpha state. It's the best way for people to know that the developer is serious about delivering the product.
You want/need evidence, not empty promises.

Right now the only game I will invest in is Heroes & Villains. I have about $100 USD reserved for when their KS starts. H&V will be the ONLY game I am going to kickstart. If SOH shows they are real, I may reconsider that stand.

Okay, I just checked them out. I read and saw exactly what I wanted to see but I didn't read enough or see enough of what I actually needed to. Their site looks all nice and spiffy and they're trying to attract old CoH players but I don't see any evidence that they've been working on the game for even a year. It looks like they've spent most of their time building their website to attract people --- investors --- instead of creating assets to show off their progress and show their commitment to finishing.
They could end up proving me wrong in the end but right now I'm getting that "Too good to be true" vibe and you know the old saying. To me, everything about it says "scam" and I'm not about to trust it.
I stand by my previous post. It'll be vaporware because of one reason or another. Back it at your own risk.

Even at that, unless they are going to release within two years, they won't have a good market to release to. And we aren't even considering NCsoft's reaction to this game yet! So we will see...
I doubt I will KS it, but if it looking like it will release, I will probably Founder Pack it. My $100 is still saved for H&V.

Pretty sure that's all three of them, although I'm actually not well informed on 'VO' and 'CoT'. I don't follow 'City of Titans' because MWM weren't taking the game in the direction I believed it should go. I never really followed 'Valiance Online' because they had been asking for more and more money and I felt they were rather unscrupulous, though now it appears they actually will launch the game so I'm glad that is working out. 'Heroes and Villains' won't even ask for money until they're 80% done with the game which is one of the reasons I follow them.
Back to your statement: Aside from 'HaV', which I know is Earth-based, I'm reasonably certain that 'CoT' and 'VO' are Earth-based as well.

i personally never liked COH,however a game such as that could be really good if done well.I do not see this as the answer,it does actually look like it might be better than COH but that is not good enough.
Down the road i am very skeptical but would like to see how their so called grouping or teamwork will work.I suspect nothing more than spam away your best attacks and nothing more.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
Cool concept, but this looks more like a joke than a serious game, and rule number one of marketing: Do not negatively out yourself. Which is exactly what having to explain one's self is.
To quote Star Trek (Deep Space Nine): "Don't forget the 190th rule of acquisition, hear all, trust nothing."
