Can't remember exactly but the original Phantasy Star on the Sega Master System seems to stand out. I remember feeling very good about myself after that, lol.

Tbh, I would say pitfall if I remember right.  For rpgs, I also have to.go to ultima, but not IV.. II.  Funny things you remember when someone mentions something from the past.  The one silly thing that sticks out were the secret doors.  they had little boxes in the wall to distinguish them.

I loved how I could import my characters into the next game. Waiting for each new game was like waiting for my favorite authors to release the next book in the series.
That .. would be a pretty nice feature in today's market too. Say The Witcher series . You could have your character from 1 to 2 and then to 3 ! Or Fallout ..

    Not bad ..

Hmm, if we are talking RPGs I think it was "Phantasy III: The wrath of nicodemus" but it might have been "Bards tale II" or "Eye of the beholder"... I completed all 3 but it was a long time ago so I might have messed up the order. It was on C-64 at least.

You can still kind of have a character from a previous game come into the next if you press the same story options as what you did in the previous game.

This isn't a signature, you just think it is.

I'm not sure whether it was DOOM 1 or Rise of the Triad, both done in 1991, 25 years ago.  I did not own a viable gaming computer before that.

Pretty sure it was either Kings Quest 3 or Space Quest 1.  Not sure which one I finished first, but I clearly remember finishing Space Quest.  To this day I remember the name of your ship in that game... The Aluminum Mallard.

    Ultima
Yes, this was back before there was another Ultima game, so it had no number.
I'm not counting the various other kinds of games from back then because they really didn't have an end, you just repeat the same stuff until you run out of lives. (And I still hadn't solved Zork yet because I got bored with trying every combo on every object.)

Lost my mind, now trying to lose yours...

First completed game, Crash Bandicoot, was when the kids were still living at home and we played that game a lot, the competition was fierce to be the first one to complete it, i can't remember which of the girls finished it first, but i was second  B)

Apart from just any old game, here are some I felt were real achievements back then.
Bubble Bobble level 100 on arcade machine.
    Super Mario on Nintendo NES.
Emerald Mines (Boulder Dash clone) all 80 levels on Amiga 500.
Sim City max score (I don't remember if that was money or population, only that it took hundreds of hours to do), Amiga 500.

Chris Crawford's Eastern Front in 1981 on the Atari 8-bit. The Germans won :)

For CRPGs it was Ultima before it was called "1"... same computer, same year.
