I hope he does a better job with it then Lynch, and stick to the original story. The 6 Dune books by Herbert are among the best Fantasy/Sci-fi books around and deserves a serious movie adaption.

It's like a cycle restarting, this, Blade Runner, another aliens movie coming(w/o predators), another Predator movie coming (w/o aliens). :)

Honestly, I think they should stop with the remakes or sequels of great movies. It diminishes the value of the original. We also have seen that many Hollywood writers simply make a canned version of the Hero's Journey in spite of the original story. A lot of these remakes have tropes that diminish their value like passing along the torch. They rely on the popularity of the original in order to sell tickets.
For all that is wrong with Avatar, it would be a much better movie than an Aliens remake.

The only promising remakes I have seen recently are the new Star Wars movies under Disney. But they also had a failed run of 3 prequels.

Check out the documentary about the "best Dune movie that was never made" that tells the story about a canceled project involving really big names such Giger and so on.

I hate when the three musketeers is on dish network because I know it most often won't be the 70s version but one of the new ones which stink.  You seen they can get more money for the new one than the old one which they feel younger viewers won't watch.

There are tons of black and white movies but how many are on netflix?
