That's only because the Rift sells out more often than not.

I will take a wild guess and say it's because of the lower pricetag.

Amazing. We have gone over 3 weeks and Superdata hasn't changed its estimate for PSVR, Rift or Samsung. Impressive. It has downgraded its sales of Vive though - OK only from 450k to 420k - but its only been just over 3 weeks since their last estimate.

Maybe next month they will tell us the estimated 745k sales have been downgraded to 500k.

Personally to me, VR is a waste of money until we at least have the majority as 4K (2K per eye) headsets.
I won't be dropping money on this tech until then.  Will wait for HTC Vive 4K version.

That people take anything reported by SuperData seriously surprises me.

I view their credibility akin to something like the supermarket tabloids.

Wonder if they have any reports on women having "Bigfoot's" baby? ;)

Hold the phone.  Samsung confirms 5 million Gear VR headsets sold so far:

The great part about this is that since so many people are willing to pay hundreds of dollars to strap a giant box to their face, it means that gen 2 / 3 /4 are just down the road.  Keep chugging along VR, I'll see you somewhere around Gen 3-4 when these things are far more refined.

    Or even later - 6? 8? 10? - given that:

The first edition of Samsung’s Gear VR, the SM-R320, was released in December 2014.

The second edition of Samsung’s Gear VR, the SM-R321, was released in March 2015.

The next edition, SM-R322, was simply referred to as the Samsung Gear VR. It was released on November 20, 2015.

(And begs the question what does the 5M number refer to - having been able to clarify whether it was an all up all versions or just for version 3.)

On a light and somewhat irreverent note, I was laughing so hard at this video:

To be clear, I'm a big fan of current VR tech, but this was genuinely funny.

    Which one performs better?

Well look at the specs needed for a VR PC... Then look at the price...

Then look at the number of PS4 owners...

Then look at the market cross-cuts....

A "no shit" is the only logical reply. PC sure has a massive IB but the % that can actually run a VR headset properly is microscopic.

Add the space needed for the VIVE and the many problems OR face with providing and shipping their headset...

Heck i´d picked up a PSVR if i had the choice.

This have been a good conversation
