The problem is that so many are going more for easier and convenience over the beauty of PC gaming...You can do so much mroe with a PC but most gamers dont seem to care.
I don't think that the industry has jumped the shark, I think that it's the community. Essentially the Internet has now evolved/devolved to a point where the fanaticals of every game seem to represent a majority. For just about every single game out there you can find little pockets of tens (or hundreds) of users who are extremely vocal about how horrible <insert any game here> is and why. Then you will have the tens (or hundreds) of other people who are arguing that they're wrong. Then you have the hundreds of thousands (or millions) who are just playing the game.
There is so much complaining about games that it's ridiculous. However, if you actually looked at the best games of 2006 versus the best games of 2016, there are significant innovations, both in game and in technology. If robotics advanced at the rate that games did, we'd likely have robots at the level of iRobot by now, doing all our daily chores, etc. I sometimes feel like people don't look at things at a macro level and will often refer to the Internet for resources, but the Internet is becoming less and less useful as a good resource, which really sucks.
CD Projekt Red are about the only AAA developer who I still respect and view as aiming for more than minimum effort and maximum profit. I hope we, gamers, continue to support and reward them for this in hoping some others come back from the dark side. I don't even like the premise behind Cyberpunk and I plan to buy it solely to support them, how often is that a thing now-a-days?
The only wildcard is Amazon Games Studio, we'll see if they join the ever-growing list of corporate disappointments or stand out.
Minimum effort?
Can you please an example of a AAA studio doing a minimum effort game?
MMO games take a ridiculous amount of effort especially the AAA titles - now if you don't like them, that's fine, but to say they took minimum effort is just well - complete bullshit.

I'm not the rpg collector that I once was. In fact I now only buy 2 or 3 games a year while I keep a subscription to an mmo going. The only AAA rpg that was released in the past year or so that I played that did indeed feel like it was made with minimum effort was Fallout 4. For myself the only effort that they put into that game was the setting and story.
And one of the more popular aspects of the game that all of the gaming sites were talking about was Scrapping, Building, Crafting, Customization which actually was a player made mod from their previous game which they incorporated into their game. Even their official dlc which were no where near as good or great as their previous titles in the series were loosely based off of player made mods which some of them like mech building and creature taming mods were already in place before they started releasing their official dlc.
