VR is just too expensive at the moment for the small amount of games and the list grows even smaller when you realize there's not many quality made VR games.
What about cell phone rigs like Gear VR that only cost $100 (for the headset)? Even if you don't want a phone that doubles as a VR machine, you can get a "demo unit" for ~$150 (I purchased a fully functional refurbished S6 from Sears for $270 - for my money you're better off spending the extra cash, might even want to go with a S7). Add in $50 for a good BlueTooth controller. Generously, that's $420 total for a quality VR headset. As far as "quality made VR games", here is a suggested list of ten that came out last year to get started:
