This will be a good game I think. The only thing is I feel this will take 1 more year before this game is polished enough for more of the general gaming community.
The one thing I take away from this gameplay in comparison to a similar game in Albion Online.
Albion's world and character models have a huge lack of individuality/creativity. Albion for all the things it does right is a very bland looking fantasy game, where im sure if you asked anyone to give you a description of a character or enemy, they would have a hard time actually applying descriptive words to them.
Shards on the other hand while not huge in poly-count does alot more with what they have. The armor has detail, the swords have detail, the houses interiors look diverse enough. The game in general just has more charm for me, and I see that going far in its success.
We had that hope with ArcheAge, with Black Dessert and now this.
Tell me, is there RNG ?
If you answer with "yes, but.." then you accept that some other player is just better then you by luck, not by skill.
Trion gave us a total different ArcheAge in the alpha and made us all hype apeshit.
On release they had a game, that was the total opposite.
Why should i ever trust a company again, putting my virtual fate and real lifetime into some greedy monsters hands again ?
I dont care for some Euros here and there, but i want a sandboxgame without RNG in combat, in crafting or whatever, beside of lootrotation and a little RNG in the loot.
RNG is a Troll, its evil and it only need is to make the gamecompany even more rich.
Will there be a ingame shop ?
Ofcause, and it will only have things to improve "quality of life" in the game.
Sure, i belive in the sacred yellow strawberry ...

What are you talking about? this game is nothing like Archeage or BDO and is the farthest thing from a cash grab game. It is being made by a small company, has been in development for YEARS with minimal funding and they genuinely care about creating a good/fun game. If this game ever adds a cosmetic shop I would probably buy some stuff to support these guys because they deserve it for all the work they're putting in.
Sludgebeard compared this game to Albion and being a founder for both games I agree with him on everything he said 100%. While we're in spirit of comparing things though I'd like to compare this game to Shroud of the Avatar. Shroud created by the UO people and this game is probably closer to what Shroud should've been but that is just my opinion.

Time to let it go. To remain bitter forever seems kinda silly. Let the light shine in.

Any examples of crafting without RNG? Genuinely curious.

I think you just described the most boring MMO I've ever heard of. If there's no randomness and everything is predefined by an equation then what's the point in playing.
I have not tested the game, but it kind of reminds me of NWN with houseing and skill point base system.
I watched a couple of streams for their start of Alpha this weekend, looks like it would be fun. They said on the developer stream that they were planning for a steam release this year.

Players can run their own merchants or you can buy from NPCs. As for real world cash shops or microtransactions for items. We dislike pay to win mechanics and have nothing like that nor any plans to implement anything like that.
Having been on the original UO (before the fork) I'm going to pass on this one. I'm much too Care Bear these days, to play a gankfest game. But I wish them all the best.

In a way that he couldn't describe, amazing ain't it?
When you don't want the truth, you will make up your own truth.
