I am going to wait about a year+ Since mario, zelda are so-so and fire emblem is crap due to its piss-poor and boring as hell combat system. I am going to wait to see what 3rd parties do, its the same with ps1/2/3/4 I waited a while before I got the Ps3/4. Ps1 I got a while after it came out since I didn't know it existed at first. Ps2 I got at launch and regretted it since nothing was coming out for it that I was intersted in, this eventually changed.
I still feel nintendo has to stop trying to get into the console market since they been failing so hard at that aspect, They should make software for ps/xbox/pc while maybe keeping their pure handhelds going like the 3ds and such.
I do wish people would make some real games for VR, only one I know of that looks any good/worthplaying is that Sword Art Online mmorpg IBM japan is working on. It might literally be the first actual vr game out there, with full functonality as a game. Though something else will probally come out long before that.
Being a pessimist is a win-win pattern of thinking. If you're a pessimist (I'll admit that I am!) you're either:
A. Proven right (if something bad happens)
or
B. Pleasantly surprised (if something good happens)
Neither really supports a mobile device as a real option.
Let's look at the home console possibilities.
1. Weak specs.
2. Gimmick controller again + a real controller sold separately.
This device is going to need more than just Mario , Zelda and Pokemon. Really have no idea what Nintendo was thinking.
Also, first generation product.

I understand that some people simply don't like the direction Nintendo has taken in the last few generations. However, i find it really funny when some of those people instantly discard Nintendo as being too kiddie or childish or whatever. I am getting many games for the Switch(and also the WiiU), and none are for kids. I guess some people just like to blindly think Nintendo consoles only have Mario, pokemon, and the family game bundles.
EDIT: also, if you somehow think playing call of duty instead of Splatoon will suddenly make you more adult/mature because its realistic and violent, you have some mental issues.
Nintendo seems content to cater to their niche, at least I hope its a plan because frankly, their last few consoles really only work with their niche and avoid the larger PS vs X war altogether. If you can't beat them, find a way to exist with your niche I guess?
There last console was the Wii U. Sold 12 million. Reasonable failure.
Second to last was Wii. Sold over 100 million units. If that's niche I know about a bazillion companies that will happily serve that niche.
The sad part is they aren't trying to serve a niche. They want core gamers money. They think they can get it. I think they are wrong but offer my suggestions for a course correct.

Big sales for sure, but how much money was borrowed/invested to produce those consoles.
I like "kiddie" games. Splatoon is one of the most fun arena shooters I've played. Mario Kart is amazing to me and fun. Smash Bros - fun. Hyrule Warriors - awesome and fun. See all those games are "kiddie" and FUN.
Mature and edgy is overrated in my opinion.
People see stylized graphics and dismiss it as "kiddie". It's short sighted and they can miss out on a lot of great games that way. Their loss.

Nintendo made a ton of jack off of that. They built up a huge war chest of cash reserves. If it wasn't for how successful the Wii was the Wii U would have tanked them.
I dont understand why people want another strong system, we have xbox and PS fighting on that side. So if multi billion company want to keep trying something different I say go for it.

what adult oriented games did the WiiU have? I own the WiiU along with the PS4 and XBONE. the WiiU is a horrible console. crap games with the crap controller that you HAD to use. ive owned every nintendo machine made. since the SNES, they all sucked. a few good games per console isnt worth crap. the NES and SNES had hundreds of GREAT games. now all the do is their own games which is what, a handful? i thought they were finally gonna get away from childish games and gimmicks but i was wrong. the switch is a weak ass machine with weak ass games. Skyrim? already have it for PS4. NBA2K17? already have it on PS4. they make crap for Japan and whatever sells here is just a bonus. they dont care.

yes they sold a ton of Wii's. but after the first couple years it was dead. no one was playing it anymore. sittin on the shelf collecting dust. gamestop quit takin em for trade. couldnt get rid of em. look at the other 2. even years after release, they still are going strong and selling. no it isnt wii numbers but the people who bought the wii also owned the others. it was the gimmick that sold it and it was the gimmick that killed it. no games worth buying. at least the other 2 were smart enough to abandon the motion gimmick. the switch will fail in sales. yeah a couple games will sell well but overall the machine will only be well received where it was made for.....Japan.
Don't see it doing well unless something big changes.
As a mobile/portable gaming platform needs to be cheaper with longer battery life. To replace the 3DS here it needs to be better than the 3DS all around.
As a console gaming platform it needs to have better or hell comparable graphics to the market leaders at a similar price OR alternatively be substantially cheaper than the market leaders but still be an graphics upgrade over the WiiU.
With Mario games coming out on Android, Nintendo opens up their games sales potential in a very big way, however they make their own hardware a hell of a lot less attractive without the exclusivity.

Either way, you can't lose! Try it out sometime!
