I can sum it up very quickly because i really hoped for FFXIV ,played it for 6 months then quit.
The reason i quit is that FFXIV is too much like Wow and i don't like Wow's design one bit.
However in saying that,it does everything Wow does and more and imo betterand definitely looks WAY better,so imo it is a no brainer.

If i only had two choices to ever play a game,it would be FFXIV w/o even thinking twice.
Thank god i have some choice because i don't want to play either game :P

In perspective,i recently loaded up Wow for the idk 20x i lasted maybe 10 minutes then was like "why the hel ldid i load this up"soon i looked around i was like ,i am out of here.

If i were to load up FFXIV it would likely hold my interest a tad longer,who knows maybe 1/2/3 day,maybe a week but then i would leave soon enough.
All depends what you want from an immersive mmorpg and imo most gamer's don't want anything except to login and chase loot,pretty shallow reason to play a mmorpg but whatever it is their life.
