Why did everyone hate on Ubisoft for showing amazing graphics, only for them to suck at release.
But CD Project did the same exact thing to Witcher 3 (E3 graphics were amazing as hell). But no one cared or made a big deal of it?
I see very huge hypocrisy here. Why is it okay for one company to do it (just because they are "indie"), but another company (that everyone loves to hate) gets dog piled on for the same thing?

Maybe its all the trolls against Ubisoft, and the mass amount of fanboys over Witcher 3

2. Even with less spectacular graphics then shown earlier Witcher 3 is still the best looking game out there, by quite a big margin, this according to both critics and consumers by large. Maybe that is why people cared less, Because it still looked stellar? CD Project still got criticized though. And CD Project is NOT an indie company.
Also, lol at the Ubisoft trolls and Witcher 3 fanboy comment. Do you always fall back on comments like that when people do something different then what you want them to do? But with a comment like that you did show your true colors, your mind was already made up as to why and how, your questions just rhetorical ones. I still decided to give you an actual answer though, you probably won't agree with it.

'This does not apply just to ED but SC or any other game. What they will get is Rebirth/X4, likely prettier but equally underwhelming and pointless.
It is incredibly difficult to design some meaningfull leg content that would fit a space ship game - simply because it is not a leg game.
It is just huge resource waste....'

Sure, maybe it wouldn't work on most PCs. But that is easily fixed by letting you tweak the settings to your liking.
Yet, not many people complained about it when it was released. Yet Ubisoft released Watch Dogs, showed amazing E3 graphics and everyone complained. It isn't just trolls/fanboys, its completely double standards.
If EA made Witcher 3, and showed off the same E3 graphics and at release it was nowhere near as good...everyone would have been up in arms. That is where the double standards and hypocrisy comes in.

Word for word but the same person.
Different reactions between there and here.
Why did everyone complain about Mass Effect 3's three endings but nobody complained about Deus Ex: Human Revolution's three endings? ME3 did it a lot better.

The same thing with the Far Cry video. I see Alpha shaders, and map layouts. The retail is play tested optimized, and completed game ready shaders. Both cases are from poor to improved. This thread says to me that players don't want complex shaders, that want all that "Junk" that costs time and money to make turned off. Yes vegetation levels go down, and backgrounds are obscured behind large boulders. That is all part of optimization for retail sale. Games could be released every 6 months, and every gamer would have to spend $10.000 - $4.000 to upgrade their system again to run the new games.
Video Card manufacturer want and encourage developers to force gamers to spend $1.200 - $800 a year on new video cards a year. If you are spending $400 or less every 4 years on video cards, then you are not their prefered customer.

So the better visuals were in the game's code, just purposefully throttled. That's what caused the outcry. Not that retail was worse than demo/showcase, but the deceitful nature of the change. There was no need to downgrade the graphics at all (for PC users), but they did . . . for reasons. I mean, they did claim a few things about potential performance issues, but users were happy to point out that the game also ran better with the settings unlocked, possibly pointing to those being how it was supposed to be played. I dunno.
Anyway, if CD project red also throttled and hid settings as well, then yeah we should be pissed the same, but if it's just the difference between showcase and retail, then it is what it is.
For the record, I could care less it's a great game and looks great.

but watch dogs for exemple the down grade was so huge and the end result is so much worse, that it wasn't even the same game anymore, and the changes were objectively bad, removing the lighting, reflections, level of details.
bottom line cdproject downgrade felt like more polishing, with necessary sacrifices at times.
while ubisoft felt like a pure false advertissement, maybe they expected too much from the new consoles, but when hit with the console's limits they went apes on downgrade without even trying to polish the game or rework it correctly.
