Conan Exiles cracked after Funcom removed Denuvo by accident

VolgoreVolgore Member EpicPosts: 3,872

"Conan Exiles was released only days ago, Tuesday 31st January, but has already been pirated. Denuvo Anti-Tamper was supposed to protect it.In Conan Exiles' case, Denuvo Anti-Tamper was temporarily removed - and accidentally. An updated version of the game was suddenly without protection."

Damn that is sad for Funcom. They really need their games to get out of the rut they are in. Hope people pay and support them instead of pirating. Don't pirate if you can or else good companies die and we all lose.

    Oof, that wasn't clever.

On the bright side, the pirates only have access to that version, it's not like they'll be receiving the official updates.

Denuvo doesn't protect a game forever, it's suppose to protect for a 6 month to a year but some groups out there are cracking games much sooner than that.

It's the nature of the beast...companies come out with protection, they get cracked and the cycle starts over.

    It doesnt work like that.
They also cracked R7 without the patch 1.0  And now the hackers got the version 1.00 too.

Been debating getting the game for a little survival fun, may wait a few weeks for things to settle a bit though.

What?  No 'funcon' conspiracy theories that they did this on purpose?

Yeah big woops but good recovery:

"There is unfortunately not much we can do about those who choose to download and play unauthorised copies," Funcom said, "but we hope they make the jump to the official version so they can stay up to date with the latest patches and improvements. Being an Early Access title, there will be a lot of updates going forward!"

That is good, now there is no point in using Denuvo which is rumored to mess up peoples computers and cause game problems anyways "Denuvo has no place in an online game" because its simple to keep games from being cracked and that is to keep updating the game so only pirated servers could be played on anyways.

No big loss.  Its not like they actually have a game right now.

I haven't tried it because I'm not interested in Conan, but I've played plenty of cracked games and gone on to purchase an official copy. It's not all negative.

Companies need to go back to offering a demo anyway so I can see if their shovelware dumpster fire even runs on my computer.

Just like in Conan with "Bar-Room Brawling"

How is this anything like that fiasco?  Besides why would anyone still bring that up at all? Old news is old news, it was one minuscule feature that got scrapped before launch.... It would be like someone bemoaning Daybreak because SOE never got those warzones to work in SWG early on.

Not sure why anyone would want a pirated copy of a EA online game... No updates, lots of bugs, not even good for a true impression of the game within a month.
