new video card help

DEATHRAMENTDEATHRAMENT Member UncommonPosts: 701
So i'm buying a new card and iv'e settled on  rx 480 which i think will be a good upgrade from my current r9 270.(correct me if i'm wrong). I'm going with radeon because i'm also buying a new 1440p monitor and the free synch monitors are quite a bit less then the g-synch ones.
My question is is would i see much of a difference between the 480 4gb between the 480 8gb? The 4gb is quite a bit less then the 8 and i'm on a budget.

Most of the time, no you won't see a difference.  But occasionally, turning settings way up so that you need more than 4 GB would kill performance on a 4 GB version but be fine on an 8 GB version.  On the 4 GB version, you'll probably be fine if you just reduce whatever setting(s) are burning a ton of memory, such as extra high-resolution textures.

You can generally expect that an RX 480 will do a little better than double the performance of your old R9 270.

Depending on what kind of games you play, you might want to consider the response time.
