Any idea when we might see Hybrid / AIO cooled 1080 Ti's?

Got a friend who calls himself a gamer, but is still running a 8.5 year old system (i7-920, etc) that I've finally convinced to spend money on a new PC (after I bought Witcher 3 for him and he won't play it because his system sucks and he wants to experience it the way it was intended)...

Now, for that backstory, he is going to basically go high end and get a top tier video card.  Now, the main reason I'm recommending the hybrid solution is noise levels, he hates loud video card fans (and rightly so).  Also, the AIO cards tend to overclock a hellofa lot better than the air cooled ones in my experience.

Anyways, do you guys think we might seem them by mid april or will it likely be may/june?

    Probably in the summer.

Air coolers are a lot better than they used to be - the newish vapor chamber coolers are pretty good and can be very quiet, depending on brand. Asus Strix, for instance, can run quieter than most AIOs.

Yeah, I was reading that EVGA has a new 3x fan air cooler coming out, something like the ICX 3.0 that under load was around 34db. That's pretty impressive and is definitely an option.

My only thing is that with my 980ti I went from temps in the 80C range at load to never going above 56c, literally ever, with a ~40% overclock (have my 980ti running at 1453mhz).  That's really hard to argue with, and since he is planning on keeping this as long as possible, lower temps generally do translate to longer life.  Though, in hindsight, I've never actually hard a card just outright fail, so that's probably being a bit ridiculous anyways.

Never the less, thanks for the info ;-)

Don't get me wrong, I love water cooling. It's expensive and can be a hassle though
