I'm really surprised at the lack of reading comprehension in so many posts here. There already is a review thread where facial animation complaints are all the rage.

    This isn't that thread.

This is a thread with game play helpful hints for people who are about to play the game in about 90 minutes.

The refusal to stay on topic here by so many of you can only be seen as a campaign to shout down any MEA threads.
So yet another "STFU DONNY!" post. Fair enough, this will be my final post regarding this game. Enjoy.
No don't STFU just copy and paste it to the thread where it's on topic and leave this thread the fuck alone for those who want to talk about tips for playing the game.

Whining about facial expressions is about as silly a complaint I have seen yet.  Especially in a ME game.  At least I got a good laugh at those doing the whining.

I am sorry, but when ME ONE has better animations there's a problem.

The saddest part of all this is that a developer could make the best game in the world with no bugs, best animations, best graphics, hell it could be a carbon copy of our world in VR where you couldn't tell you are not in the real world and people would still find fault somewhere with everything about the game.  Don't get me wrong there is a time and place to complain about games and the issues with them, but today it is like people go out of there way just to find things to complain about instead of being glad we have the things we have to start with.  To all those arm chair game developers go make a game then come back to me and let me play it sure I won't find anything at all to complain about because you are so good that you would never make a mistake or write a bad line of code.  Let the people that want to talk about actual play in a thread about actual play talk about playing.  /end rant!

Always happens.  Look at SC, nearly every thread ends in an off topic argument over the validity of the game.

The new mass effect is awesome, despite the hate. It has a lot of modern day advancements in it. You can be a dark skinned character, gay/lesbian etc. A lot of RPGs still haven't caught up with the time. Like Witcher 3 is the most racist game I ever played, but thats another topic. In any case, the new Mass Effect also...the story is awesome and such an awesome world(s) to explore. I'm super excited for release. I always loved the new Bioware when they advanced gaming with the new society of the western world.

It does have voice acting (english only, other languages sound better) problems though and animations are like watching twilight zone. But I have to and will always support Bioware, if they don't go back to the dark ages of society.

Other games that are really good if you don't want sci-fi is another Bioware game. Dark Ages Inquisition is amazing, and very beautiful too. If you like MMOs but hate the multiplayer aspect of MMOs, DA:I is perfect. It has amazing voice acting, and great animation. Character models not as good as the new mass effect though.

Plenty of games you can be a black, Asian character.

As for being a gay or lesbian and thinking that's up with the times like its fashionable is pathetic. If that's your sign of the times you can keep it. Don't be fooled by the constant promotion of gay and lesbian media hype and thinking that it's worldly excepted cos it's not.

Your country seems to have an obsession with it but that's no surprise.

The game is not a master piece like his predecessor.... That's why people are disappointed, when we play mass effect, we expect to have a mind blowing story with a totally immersive game play...
The new title in the franchise fails at both, most people wouldn't mind if the story had less characters, or no gay/lesbian included, or even not 10/10 combat, combat could be simple and challenging, no need for **awesome flashy super duper skills"*
So yeah, it's a failure compared to his predecessors, else it's an ok game, another cool rpg, but it won't be an all time classic.

    A couple of tips:

Press ALT to switch camera angle when in cover.
Press TAB to exit out of ANY UI menu - meaning you don't have to press ESC multiple times.

you're criticizing the game which is utterly off topic for this thread.

"Columns: 11 Things to Ease Your Way Into Andromeda"

Ease-your-way. Many gamers want to know how to ease the way with the animation problems.

So, criticizing animations (animations, not the WHOLE game, which is a LIE) is ON topic in THIS thread.

By the way, when you're silencing criticism about something bad in the game, you're giving green light to the gaming companies - "Make shitty final half-product and demand $60 minimum, I'll buy it!".
In other words, you're accessary of the condition of today video games.

    Seriously?!

    Thanks for the tips!

Oh and since hating on BW seems to be so cool right now I decided to use the possibility and jump on the bandwagon - living in Europe means I cannot play this game until Thursday. Horrible game, 2/10 lol.

The leveling sounds like Dragon Age Inquisitition, which makes sense since its the same company.

The problem was with a game that has a main story that carries a certain epic feel and then a mediocre quest to get more exp breaks immersion for me.

The problem is not necessarily the side quest just the quality of the side quests. I do not mind side quests with new quest mechanics, challenging content, 'epic' lore and treasure, and taking out bounty quests, but if its just more of the same side questing it really breaks immersion for me.

So does ME:A have a lot of side questing that is required to get exp to progress to the next area, and how would a person rate the quality of that side questing based on previously mentioned personal taste on enjoyable side questing.

I was thinking about getting it, but the side quest design of DA:I is something that makes me consider the combat and how enjoyable I would find that. Something I am uncertain of as well unless I try.

Thank you for the helpful tips.

Can i suggest to lock this thread or pin it with no option to reply ?

It is obvious that some people here are on a agenda or a denial. No matter how hard you'll try to explain to them that this is a thread about game play tips for / from people who play and enjoy the game they just wont listen. Obviously the big ongoing discussion about the facial expressions in the other thread isn't enough for them.

    12. A bottle of Romulan Ale(guess it's strong enough) to make you forget / adapt to those horrible, uncanny valley facial animations. Come on! SWTOR does a better job of that!

For Pete's sake. Everyone gets it. Some people don't like the animations. If it's not the game for you, move the heck on and let others enjoy the anticipation and excitement of a new game. *facepalm*

No offense. But, as a longtime and diehard ME fan myself, having played the trilogy several times over!

I for the love of god cannot phantom how you can give EA/BW a pass on this one?

ME:Adromeda is such a huge step backwards in Production quality compared to the original trilogy. It's not even funny!

The horrible, almost amateuristic facial animation problems are just a one small part of the problems this game has, but highly noticable.

What about the horrible inconsistent writing and voice acting? Compared to the trilogy, this is a huge step backwards.

Did they lost all good writers? Did they ran out of money hiring decent voice actors? As there is just no cohesion and emotional attachment between the characters!
It's like some reviewers rightly said on other sites. It's like they put every voice actor in a seperate isolation Box and have them rattling through the scripts.

And lets not talk about the quality (or lack of) of all the (side) missions. Boring as hell, unimaginative time sink stuff littered all over the game as filler content.

Fact is, this game, in this state, should have never been allowed to reach gold status.
Everything, just everything clearly indicates as horribly rushed release with shockingly lack of polish.
    Unworthy to it's predecessing trilogy.

    This is getting beyond hilarious.

As shocking this may occur to you there are plenty of people who enjoy the new ME game. With its shortcomings. ALL of them  discussed and analyzed to death by dozens of replies in the review thread.

However it seems that you self entitled drama queens are not content with just one thread. You need to hijack everything ME related and have the whole world hear. We get it already. You all are die hard ME fans bla bla bla the game sucks bla bla.. Bioware sucks bla bla bla.. EA sucks bla bla bla. Guess what, we who believe that ME: A is still a solid game despite it's flaws and shortcomings are fans of the series as well.

This thread is not a review. It's a thread about providing helpful info for people who play the game. Or it was till you turned it into a cesspool. I was about to write one or two game play tips regarding combat but there is no point.

So... in your opinion there can never be anything written about MEA without going into a long list of negatives? Sort of like "MEA on sale at Origin for $__... however.... animations.... blah, blah... production value.... blah blah. The sale lasts until next Sunday."

What part of staying on topic about hints and tips in this thread are you struggling with?

My only question about this game is:  Is it actually going to be "open world" this time, or am I gonna land on a planet and run through an on-rails, corridor shooter, wash, rinse repeat for 15 planets like ME2?

That's really why I never picked up ME3, cause ME2 bored me horribly by about the 5th planet.

If, on the other hand, I'm going to land on a planet and be able to actually explore it, you know like walking around Witcher 3/Fallout 3/Fallout4 any damn where I want to go next, then I'm excited to give it a shot.
i spent a good 2 hours on EOS (the first actual planet you get to where you meet peebee) doing all the quests there, then i returned later to find the kett built a base so i went and blew that up. Its not 100% witcher 3 open world but the planets are rather large and the nomad is a must.
