I was super excited to start talking with my friends in WoW and interacting with my guildS.
See, I'm on two servers. Two really active (or used to be) servers. Tichondrius (cause PVE only is too boring in WoW), and Moon Guard (bad reputation, but super friendly people)
I log on to Tichondrius. Hm, that is weird...Orgrimmar is far more emptier than just two months ago (when I last played, had to stop due to money problems). Wait, my guild I'm in that started in early WoD...lets see...a few people on...look at log...mass quitting and no one is inviting anyone. I ask the guild leader, he said "most people unsubbed, a few joined other guilds or went to other servers. My subscription isn't being renewed.". And again, Orgrimmar is very empty compared to two months ago.
Well, at least I have my best WoW friends on Moon Guard.
I...wait...my best friend from back in WOTLK isn't in the guild anymore? WTF? He was last active a month ago? Why is there so many people not part of the guild anymore? I ask in guild chat, people (very few on compared to 2 months ago) shrug and just say the server is a lot less active than it used to be. And...like Tichondrius...chat is a lot less active...Stormwind is okay, more active than Tichondrius Orgrimmar, but nothing like 2 months ago.
So...I paid 15 dollars, played 10 minutes, logged off, unsubbed since all my friends left and my favorite guilds from any MMO (they were amazing) are dead and I deleted the game
15 dollars down the drain. Hope blizzard likes easy money lol

I mean, what's the point? Otherwise just leave the guild when you stop playing and join whatever the most popular guild on server when you come back, they are not really friends doing it your way it seems to me.
Find a true guild that has an website that lets you stay in touch with people all the time, then you can always find those that you like to play with.

I dunno what happened, but in MMOs...but I stay with guild for life, never guild hop and like to make longterm friends. So when I got on super excited to talk to my friends, I find not a single one even play WoW anymore and the guilds dead. Its even harder in WoW to find a good guild. I'm not interested in being in a top guild, nor the most popular guild, or a guild focused on raiding...just a family friendly casual guild. I was in two pretty active ones (not most popular, but really active) and they were amazing.
But that isn't even all of it. I log on and find both Stormwind (Moon Guard) and Orgrimmar (Tichondrius) to be vastly less active (still sorta active, Stormwind more so)...like so many people aren't even in the cities anymore. I dunno why or what happened, but I don't want to play without my friends.

I also (like I said in my above post) do NOT guild hop, and stay with a guild for life. And I like to make long term friends. So when I find out my best friends I made IN the game (not in real life), and not a single one even plays...it completely ruined any motive I had of ever playing WoW

I said I couldn't afford to pay, I even told the guild that and they understood. What was the point of that post?

I was actually really looking forward to playing, hence why I spent 15 dollars. I didn't spend it just to waste money...but none of my friends or guilds are left to play it with. Made me feel very sad and not want to play at all

Sure I guess I could have made new friends, but it isn't the same. The reason I had such a good experience before I couldn't afford paying, that good experience WAS because my friends and guild. Sure the game itself helps with that, since I do find WoW fun...but MMOs are all about the friendships and stuff you make.

If you really wanted to the game then you would play even without your friends, but since none of your friends are currently you say you "wasted" money.
Instead of bashing WoW and Blizzard for no reason why dont you talk to your friends through texting or Face Time or something like that, those dont cost $15 a month to do what you really wanted to do.
Cause MMOs are about making friends, socializing with people and grouping and what not. Well at least old MMOs were...a lot are mostly solo focused now till endgame lol. And sometimes even endgame is soloable these days
(edit:
And I should add. Its not just about making friends, but the friends you MAKE and the guilds you are with. But these days, it seems its all about getting the best items, guild hopping, no care at all for other people but to make your own self better. But for me, MMOs are to socialize and have life long friends. Like how it was back in EQ1, UO and what not

I'm really looking forward to checking out Sargeras, I forgot my friend gave it a lot of praise back in WoD. But I was on moon guard, then I kinda forgot about it.

They have no real longevity and to think the very shallow game play most offer at end game and people still login to play that is sad.
So i assume the OP played a lot of pvp to keep interested, that's fine but pvp in these games is simply a mod, like an arena or battlegrounds or some kind of instance removed from the actual game.I could say WHY pay money to in this case Blizzard just for pvp then, well obviously because gamer's hate to feel they just throw away all that hard work and gear/items they achieved over the years.
To that i simply say, that players need to let go of virtual items they will never hold, touch or own,if the game is not offering a COMPLETE fun game anymore and just some instances,i say it is time to leave the game.
Speaking from my own experience,i got that longevity out of FFXI because of it's unique design using sub classes ,thereby offering years of character building and using the ENTIRE game to do it.I no longer play FFXI,i got that longevity, had fun but moved on,not one bit afraid to let go of all those items i accumulated.
My only surprise is how long players remained in Wow to play some end game instances,i suppose it was the friends that kept them there "good reason" because i can't see it being the game.
Sadly i do not see one single game incoming that offers longevity, most of these games offer a few weeks ,then players are bored and move on.What i see is nothing but end game grinding,i have no idea how people find end game fun.I feel i know the answer, very shallow minded gamer's that get all excited about killing some Boss for loot.I want more from my game than a Boss and his loot drops.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
And since OP seems to have limited budget there are far cheaper alternatives that have fun gameplay as well. GW2 and BDO both makes sense.
I can understand OP, it is always sad when a guild splits up and people leave in large numbers. There are more to a MMO then who you play it with but a good guild do make any MMO far more fun while a bad guild could make any game boring.
My advice to OP is to try to find out if your guildies moved on together to another game, then you can always join them in that game instead.
Well, the hardest part is to first find a good MMO.
And ofc battle.net... Just go log into battle net go to friends, ask hey are you still playing wow, or on which server, maybe he went to another server.
As others have said - and I am sure you know - it is hard to get a "good guild". And on the flip side it takes a while for the guild to get to know you. And clearly your connection with WoW was with your guilds and not the game.
And maybe consider other games as you will be starting again on the guild front. Not sure what else you have played but things like e.g. GW2 and ESO can be picked up for "about $15" both have non-PVE (you would want a PvP guild) and no subscription. LotR has non-PVE as well but you have to subscribe for monster play. Basically something else you haven't played so that whilst you are searching for a "good guild" you at least have "game stuff" that you haven't done a zillion times already to do.
Multi-game guilds might be something to look at as well. Guilds that play more than one game and stay in touch outside of any single game as a result.
If you resub and get sorted - excellent. I do worry however that - even if you don't start another thread - you will end up feeling that you have wasted another $15.
The way to keep in touch with them was through their website. This way you always know what games they are playing and which ones they have left. You can go to the forum and post on the game you want to start playing again and those who are still playing will respond. This way you don't have to resub and waste any money to find out who is still playing.
In future I suggest you use this method to avoid losing any funds you rather not lose.
