@Nickcs I agree with you.. Back before the buyout and before the Doc's left. Something like this wouldn't have made it to release. Most of these easily repeatable bugs and issues are things that would have been caught and fixed before release.

The quality control just does not seem to be there in Bioware anymore. Its pump stuff out and fix what we can in patches and then move on to the next game.

    Yes, you are absolutely correct.

I have been enjoying BioWare story telling adventure's since Neverwinter Nights.
Then Knights of the Old Republic, Jade Empire, Mass Effect, Dragon Age : Origins, Mass Effect 2.

Then the focus started to shift from quality to quantity...

There is with out a doubt passionate and gifted people working on these games still, but if your management is thinking in $ & € then its hard to get it right.

Except it was a new studio with people who had never worked on ME games before, and it even seems that some of the work was doled out to EA Bucharest.

So while i agree that the focus is no longer quality, as has been demonstrated amply enough by ME:A already, i am not sure that they have people left who are all that passionate about the games, that the game does not measure up to previous versions of ME, is terrible considering the technology that is currently available.

I really hope they can fix the game, but i don't think they can do much about the writing, which is sloppy work at best, at the moment i'll keep my fingers crossed that things improve over the next few months, but realistically, the best hope i have, is that they (Bioware) really do learn from the ME:A debacle, and that ME:A 2 is a much better game. :o

As for quality I've played a lot of open world RPGs, from TES to Gothic, to the Risen series, as well as Two worlds 1+2. Far too many to list them all.  Comparatively this is still miles ahead of many of those. Especially as far as writing and deepness of story goes. Is it the next Kotor ? nah, but it's far from the abysmal writing and presentation of the Two Worlds series.

I don't think you can expect the steady story beats you find in the ME series proper in this format. It's just not the same type of game. The focus here is more of a mix of elements rather than one all encompassing narrative thread. Hence why it needs better combat, more involved exploration, sci-fi fan service elements etc... Which is an area I think shows some passion was put in this overall experience.

I find it to showcase a lot of what Star Trek games should feel like, rather than a lot of the junk branded with it in recent years. Like that movie tie in game a few years back. Each to their own in the end, we're all seeking different things I guess.

MEA is the Fallout4 of the series. This is what happens when you put more emphasis on combat and world building at the expense of everything else.

The patches should help put out some of the fires, but won't fix my biggest problem with the game, the writing /dialogue wheel. I found the writing to be at times really good, but most of the time it seemed aimed at a Nickelodeon audience. Often times that wheel only gives you choices on how to say something and not what to say.

Ryder feels like a doormat that nobody takes seriously. I'm surprised the tempest doesn't have a "safe space" that Ryder can go to when somebody yells at him/her.

I'm not an IT Specialist, Game Developer, or Clairvoyant in real life, but like others on here, I play one on the internet.
