Looking for C64 version of Phantasie and Questron

MightyUncleanMightyUnclean Member EpicPosts: 3,531
Hey folks,

I'm looking for a C64 emulator versions of the original Phantasie and Questron.  I've searched, but had little luck, and don't know what sites to trust anyway.  Anyone have a lead?

Also, has anyone tried going back and playing 80s classics like these?  Are they too dated to be playable?  I'd also like to retry Ultima IV and Legacy of the Ancients.

Thanks!

Or, heck, the PC version would work.

You can play the DOS version of Phantasie in a browser https://archive.org/details/msdos_Phantasie_1987

Very cool, thank you!  Do you know if you can save your progress?

Tried? All the time   Ultima IV - VI for example I've replayed a couple years ago, when the series arrived to gog.com. At the last nostalgia rush maybe 3 months ago I did Bard's Tale (not the remake ofc, the original).

"Are they too dated to be playable" - nope, that's the whole point of nostalgia...  Currently I'm planning to replay the Lords of Midnight / Doomdark's Revenge pair, haven't played that since the '90s, but I'm tight on game time schedule.
Luckily (or sadly, depending on the point-of-view) I just had a lot of freed up gametime with FC axed TSW, so maybe it's the perfect time for getting the Ice Crown...

Aww bummer man, the browser thing keeps failing to load.  :(  Do you need to load it in a particular web browser?  I'm using Microsoft Edge.

C64 was the best version of Ultima IV in my opinion.  I have never been able to find Questron and would LOVE to :)  I have been looking on and off forever.  I think I tried Phantasie and had a harder time enjoying it than I thought I would.  Ultima  games are awesome though.

Wa min God! Se æx on min heafod is!

Never mind, it works in Chrome!  But there's no way to save a game, eh?  Just play an instance in the browser for fun?

Doesn't work in Opera either, it downloads everything and get stuck. Unless it takes more then 5 mins to start (I am a bit impatient tonight). Try IE.

I tried a couple of games in Chrome and it worked!

Hmmm, not entirely sure. There is a save feature under the options tab once you're in the game. I'm not sure if it actually works though, or if it's just listed there because it was part of the original game.

Yeah, I Googled it.  As of 2015, at least, it was not possible to save games.
