Is it dead? No, it's alive still. Albeit much less players than when it launched, or when it first came to steam. Not dead enough to really affect gameplay all that much and I have had no problems queueing for dungeons. I am level 50 out of 65 (i think is max level at this point).
PvP was fun when I first played, I assume it's still very fun but haven't tried it on my new character. However I do know that there is indeed still open world PvP on PvP servers.

Not sure what you mean by this but there is an Auction house that you can buy and sell items you get. The cash shop items can be purchased and sold there as well as Elite Status (the premium subscription) tokens. You can viably make enough money to get whatever you want in the cash shop without ever really having to pay as long as someone is selling it.
I don't understand the appeal of this game. I feel
like I'm playing through an open world game that was once good, but is
