I mean, why would I play World of Warcraft, a fine game but for me so deadly dull and Final Fantasy, an extremely beautiful game, but for me so deadly dull, when I can play Secret World, for me a very smart game?

Oh, they have dumbed down the game quite a bit with easier and much more linear questing.

I'm liking the new improved combat which was a issue with me. I hope they fix or optimize the fps/game engine better too..that was another big issue..it drove me crazy at times.lol. Than for sure I will give it a go again.

Well I'm on beta and I'm a lifetime sub since pre-launch. Tsw has the best quests and atmosphere in all mmo's that I've played. This new version changed what wasn't the problem to me and what I didn't like it they kept it. I'll start over with my husband (both lifetimers) and really hope everyone will try because it's an amazing game. Savage coast park and academy, man I love it.

Also... Why The F*ck are they releasing this the same month ESO and FF14 are dropping their expansions?!  Why not wait for late September closer to Halloween?  That's a time where more people will be into trying out spooky games, etc.  And also give people time to consume that new expansion content from other games.

The best thing about SWL is that it is no longer an MMO.

I am looking forward to this.  I know some people are angry but my take is they are trying to do something to improve the game rather than just leave it as is.  My hope is they addressed the issues which people had with the game previously.

    This is a hub game?

I will give it a try but not expecting much.

TSW has always been KIND of a hub game. This just pronounces it more. Agartha is the main hub with the game zones being more limited in players.

I bought the game way back when it released but only played it for a few days.

I guess I just never really noticed.  =)

I bought it after it went b2p on a sale. Now it doesn't show on my funcom account so I can't transfer my chars progress and I can't remember which outlet I bought it from. :(

I know the changes aren't this extreme, but for the longest time I dreamed of a game like TSW, but with one of the modern Ninja Gaiden's combat of sorts.  Fast paced, slashing, head decapitating, jumping on heads to chop them off, etc  Jumping from the walls, running on the walls, then slashing downwards in a hawk-like strike to chop their heads off.

With each power set having some amazing feats like that.

Hoping there is at least one power set that is enjoyable for me; was unable to find one in the original.  The sword just looked stiff, the pistols were slow to fire and didn't seem that powerful... blood and chaos were meh.  The claws also seemed stiff, but at least they could while I slashed (may be remembering that wrong).
Due to frequent travel in my youth, English isn't something I consider my primary language (and thus I obtained quirky ways of writing).  German and French were always easier for me despite my family being U.S. citizens for over a century.  Spanish I learned as a requirement in school, Japanese and Korean I acquired for my youthful desire of anime and gaming (and also work now).  I only debate in English to help me work with it (and limit things).  In addition, I'm not smart enough to remain fluent in everything and typically need exposure to get in the groove of things again if I haven't heard it in a while.  If you understand Mandarin, I know a little, but it has actually been a challenge and could use some help.

Also, I thoroughly enjoy debates and have accounts on over a dozen sites for this.  If you wish to engage in such, please put effort in a post and provide sources -- I will then do the same with what I already wrote (if I didn't) as well as with my responses to your own.  Expanding my information on a subject makes my stance either change or strengthen the next time I speak of it or write a thesis.  Allow me to thank you sincerely for your time.

I disliked the weird combat and the fact that you basically had so few areas, it felt small. The weird magic guns, just weird... so I'm this magic-person and I work my mighty combat magic with magic guns huh....? Seriously?

Unless something has changed since the SWL announcement, I'm pretty sure no characters are being transferred over. Existing accounts are/were able to reserve one name from an existing character to migrate though.

I don't know what to think of this. The weird animations are still there. There's going to be even less players around. What is the deal with group dungeons in this? Are they solo-able now?
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

It was never really one to begin with.

Hmmm...and I didn't even say it three times...

Yep. Don't trigger the mmo-pedants! If you say "but it isn't an mmo" three times in any thread you'll summon them.

TSW was always at its best when played singleplayer. The questing is the best of any MMO ever, and even better than most singleplayer RPGs.

Pretty bad timing imo. You're gonna have FFXIV's Stormblood about a week before and WoW's 7.2.5 + Tomb of Sargeras raid around the same time.

F2P or not, a launch can determine the future of a game.

Eh, the games are entirely different genres. WoW and FFXIV are both classic tab target, Fantasy MMO's with a strong focus on raiding. While The Secret World Legends will be a story driven action combat MMO with a strong focus on soloing that's set in modern times.

They attract vastly different audiences. Not to mention, it'll be entirely possible to enjoy TSW:L as a single player side game. So I wouldn't worry too much, and neither are they apparently.

My SWTOR referral link for those wanting to give the game a try. (Newbies get a welcome package while returning players get a few account upgrades to help with their preferred status.)

I agree, also just a couple weeks after ESO's "not expansion" Morrowind expansion which has become the go-to game for casual pve'ers and rp'ers, which seems who this this revamp is aimed at.

If I get bored with ESO early and I have some time before Destiny 2 I may give this a shot, as I skipped TSW even though I heard some decent things over the years. The combat was what prevented me from trying it, I'll have to look into some gameplay vids.

Now ESO on the other hand is more of a competitor, yes...

And you should give it a try! TSW has never been my "main" MMO, but it's a fun experience. :D

Well, I've had enough of the beta. This game didn't really change. They just reorganized the UI and added a few different graphics and color schemes. Combat is still borderline embarrassing.

What a scam. I should have known better than to trust Funcom.
