Does that really matter???? They are perfectly acceptable for the task.

You really need to get over youself man, I stopped playing Horizons because it didn't really do it for me however I can appreciate why people enjoy it, and would recommend that people trial it to see if it appeals to them.

Actually AC2 and HZ released unfinished. We can also say Mouring but that game was clearly still in alpha. The console engine is exactly why even the devs admit they need a new engine so no it is not alright.

The game is almost 2 years past release and is rockin. Every time I log in, like tonight, I literally have to remind myself that this is the same game that the 2 or 3 die hard Trolls are even writing about. The game is so full of charm and is such a fun and relaxing environment, you guys must have to keep yourselves secluded from the very daylight to keep your out of date views alive in your own minds. Play the game, it's a nice change from anything out right now. Or don't play it. But shut up already.

I think your hilarious, that you're actually afraid the game will succeed so you have to inject negative rhetoric in random forums every day or three. People who try the game instantly see right through you.

Have fun doing your thing Troll. Troll being someone who continually bashes a game over and over. It's not name calling, it's what you do.

Yep such a great game and that is why so many try it and then leave it. A game with such low pops will never make it to any kind of profit or respect. Must tell you something when the same people have to come on and defend it over and over again. When can the game stand on its own legs? Oh right, it can't.

That is presuming that the majority have good taste........I suggest that one look at the music charts or what's on TV will show you that isn't the case. ::::35::

Personally I find games with lower pops are always much more enjoyable. You have none of the farmers or leet kiddies on-board and everyone who plays it actually wants to. Being in a game where you recognise pretty much everyone always feels good to me. So long as it has enough of a turnover to remain open that's all that really matters.

I really do feel sorry for you guys. Isn't it enough that they have had 5 months in a row of freebies to attempt to get more people in game? They just can't keep going on with numbers of 450 online at primetime. These type numbers just will not pay the bills or get the developers in the pay scale they deserve to be. Which is exactly why they keep doing these freebies. They need more players and it just isn't happening. You can keep thinking a smaller pop in the game is a good thing but for the creator and the investors this just isn't true.

I agree, Dirk_Gently.  I have likened this to a small private school vs. a large public university, or a small town vs. a large city.  Horizons is a niche game that will always remain so, and now that that's clear to everyone, including the developers, we are seeing how to put in place all the benefits of a small and personal endeavor.

The game still needs to grow a bit, and I am guessing that Tulga wishes to double the subscriber base, at least.  As said in the June 9 editorial here on mmorpg.com, the developers feel that the game is ready now for a bit of promotion, and that is why we are seeing it here.  They hope for a grassroots, word of mouth promotion effort, because that will give a more solid, less fickle playerbase.

Erm... I don't play Horizons but, frankly, it doesn't matter how many people are online it only matters how many are paying for the game. :)

That said I don't see how they're turning a profit with less than 10,000 subscribers.

Coming out of bankruptcy, the main thing is to break even and build from there.  The developer/publisher is determined to do that as are the core of loyal players who've stuck it out through thick and thing.

    The story continues...

The reason it is still going is because of the game. It has heart and soul and anyone who gives it an honest go sees that. Anyone who wishes ill on any game is a sad little tyke who probably in all honesty wets the bed.

The reason the game is still going is because of how many people have been ripped off by them not paying their bills. Months in Chapter 11 and then free money from Baker. No one can say this game is making money and they are still losing players left and right. Even the hardcore ones that have been at it from start are beginning to leave.

I wonder what new thing they will do next month to get new players in game? That will be 6 months in a row if they do it. Can anyone tell me what other online game had to do so many different ways month by month to try and get new players into game?

That made absolutely no sense. Read it. Completely off the charts.

I wonder when you will give up saying the same crap over and over again? Every company runs contests and promotions you have absolutely no point. When will you stop trolling this forum?

Anyways your wrong, the game is still going because it is a good game and because the GAME has heart and soul and your B.S. is just B.S. that sits here in a pile for everyone to smell. I am not the only one who sees it, pal.

Name ONE company that doesn't run promotions to attract new customers. Man you really are grasping now lol

Welcome to the forums I see your're new. Why is that sad? It's a program for people to try and spread the word about Horizons. A free trial so that skeptics can see how the game is, and not how the trolls of the internet would like you to believe it is. They aren't a big company but they have this game that rocks and its a grass roots effort to try and spread the word.

Anyone who posts negatively over and over about something is a troll. I'd say posting this in the Horizons forum you obviously don't like the game. 13 posts and one troll I wonder what the other 12 posts are like. Try the game it rocks, negativity in these forums does not.

I think he meant that because the company at some point went bankrupt then they will have cut a deal with their creditors............though that is hardly being 'ripped off', it's everyday business.

All I have to say is this game bites. I played this for about 4 months and all it ever was, was a bunch of people who wanted to craft. I wanted to go do quests and raids and go after creatures but everytime I tried finding a group I could never find one. I have no idea what your talking about getting in a group with no problem but I think your playing the wrong game. The dragons sucked. I love how they show all this stuff about flying yet it is so hard to get it to that point. Dragons suck and this game sucks. Unless the last patch made the game differnt I cant see why anyone would play it.

So the conclusion of this thread would be play the trial and make up your own mind. ::::20::

This game has several unique things. One is the diversity of races  that a player can choose from (sadly there should be more, at least according to the story line and what was told to us in beta). Another unique thing is that you are not stuck with the character class you choose when you make your char  (I wish all games has something like this) and you can still use some of the abilities /spells of your former class(s).

    <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

My guild, ALL of the members, quit this game just after they merged the servers and changed the game dramatically. We found that we did not like most of the changes they had made and that the story line was not progressing like it should have, it was far too static. Also the shard name tag for chars without unique names was just rude.

I wish that the Devs had been able to pay more attention to the game and less to the internal problems the company was having. Perhaps after they update the graphics engine and get the story back on track, we might give it another try.

As to whether you should keep you subscription or not… I suggest playing it as much as time allows during the 7 day trial, then if you like it, keep playing.

  • anarchyartanarchyart Member Posts: 5,378
I've only been playing a couple months. I think many people dislike the game are from beta and were burned by promises not being kept which is completely understandable. Thing is, no one promised me anything. All I know about is the game as it is now, and I like it image

    Yes indeed,

I'm one of the few from Beta that definitely like the game.

I think many people from beta do like the game, maybe 60-40. Others in beta

already had there eyes set on EQ2, WOW, Lineage2 etc etc.

So when those games were coming out months down the road.  They were gearing to leave

Yes, the game did have a lot of promises during those stages in Beta, from what the dev's

were planning. Some of those plans never did happen, but its good they did implement some of

them. I'm personally glad that you indeed love the game. Its and honor to hear that

    Shakes anarchyart Hand"

I heard many rumors concerning they will go over lvl-100 Cap, even if they don't

i may still return to play Horizons
