Graphics glitch in combat (messed up character)

I have this problem that a few seconds after starting a combat, my character suddenly is completely covered with brown splodges like mud. Other characters are unaffected, and shortly after combat ends, the character goes back to normal. It's not game-killing, but it's annoying. Has anyone else seen this, or know how to fix it?

Check to see if you have a 'quest item' equipped on the paper doll.

I had done a quest where my character was surrounded by insects. But it never stopped. I logged, I had my character die and respawn, I checked to see if this was a spell effect, I submitted a ticket (which no one got back to me about) and finally saw that I had some sort of quest item equipped.

I unequipped it and it was gone.

Maybe you have the same issue?

Well it seems I don't have the same problem on a different character, so I guess it is nothing to do with graphics settings. But I tried replacing or unequipping every slot, and sometimes it slowed the onset of the glitch, but never stopped it entirely.
