I loved TSW for the storyline and the atmosphere. I could live with the poor combat.
SWL forces me to reticule combat (why not leave tab as an option?) and forces a much more linear progression on the character. The travel animations in argartha are ludicrous. Ok, people don't want to run the branches then add teleports but forcing all travel to be via springboards gets tiring real fast.
I found the new combat mechanics confusing but that was probably at least partly because I was so familiar with the old. I'm sure I would have come to terms with them eventually. Crafting is an improvement - no longer will you need to collect those damn runes.
My real issue with SWL is that I have already played all the content except the endgame raids from all three factions. With nothing new storyline wise it will be very difficult to become motivated to play a new character from start. Since it is free I'll probably keep it around for casual/occasional play but unless they commit to new content I can't see myself being very active.
Well this looks interesting but, since my wife and I play together always, the only question I have is: did they get rid of all those SOLO quests that are required to be done alone? I don't play MMO's with my wife just so that we can do solo quests separately. Please tell me they fixed that.

Odd that even with the numerous console-waiting posts nobody dropped in yet the confirm of it in the IAmA yesterday... maybe because it wasn't a "real" confirm, just a conditional one, like every other promises of new content, new weapons, etc?
So, if you'll be good, and spend a lot, you might get a console version, now that the game is dumbed down enough for consoles anyways The actual wording was:

plans on releasing on consoles?
The gameplay is just the same, I know even though I haven't played it yet and it hasn't been released. The game is no different, I know even though I haven't played it yet and it hasn't been released. They are completely screwing over everyone, I know even though I haven't played it yet and it hasn't been released. The combat still sucks, I know even though I haven't played it yet and it hasn't been released. Its all cosmetic changes and nothing more, I know even though I haven't played it yet and it hasn't been released. This game will be shutdown by the end of the year, I know even though I haven't played it yet and it hasn't been released.
As many other people on forums discuss, this is why you should avoid these forums. Killing the game with speculation before its been released or played yet. You may be right, but I hate to break it to you, you may also be wrong. Over my years on here, I've read about the death of many games, SWTOR, GW2, TSW, D3 to name a few, guess what I still play them all with many others who enjoy them. They are all still here, in the red(not the black), and most are prospering very well with many players.
Well, to reiterate things I've already said in this thread, I'm a lifetime member in the original TSW and have been playing the beta (by invitation) of SWL and my comments are based on both.
People should also consider advoiding these forums due to clueless fanboys who can't read entire threads before they regurgitate their moronic accusations toward others.
Hmm I guess you didn't get the intended sarcasm, I thought it was pretty clear as read I the original thread quote. You responses does seem to show why people tend to avoid these threads, thanks for your membership here.
The "sarcasm" after the fact defense. *rolls eyes*
Cant wait to check it out Played a little bit back when released but I quess I was too addicted to wow me and my friends back then,, but I remember the quests on this game and the story was amazing! I will definitely play more this time
From the videos I've seen it looks like they made the combat faster but reduced damage so it's essentially the same as before. Takes forever to kill trash mobs. I put up with this in the original because I liked the quests and story-lines so much. I'll give it a go at launch but if the content is the same I see little reason to repeat content without improved combat.

Personally,I only had a chance to try SW through a trial.. and I was thoroughly exited through the entire trial. Now, after reading all the pro/con comments, i am still excited. Climbing into Mr Peabody's Wayback Machine.,I remember when I took part in SW's original beta testing, and I was so thrilled about the entire concept. I can'y wait for SWL to be released
I've been playing since launch. Off and on, anyway. I've been in the beta, and it's same same really. Made development too simple. Leveling gear is painful, and you can actually make mistakes in your gear leveling that'll hinder your progress. Fortunately I've had 3 weeks beta to suss it out.
It has the same problems from the original. If anything, the TTK (time to kill) is quite long in later zones. but also your own ttk is quite long too. So combat can be really drawn out and repetitive. I found myself just skipping the last 2 zones and just doing the story to get to the end.

It's launching from it's site in June and Steam end of July. They changed it to avoid the FFXIV and ESO expansions.
Also they said on most recent stream they are going to be updating more animations soon and after launch also for those that hate the animations.
They have listened a lot and come a long way since beta 1

I'll be sticking around regardless...off and on.
