Intrepid Studios has announced the start of the Ashes of Creation Summer Crowdfunding campaign to allow folks who didn't have a chance to participate in the May KickStarter a chance to back the forthcoming MMO. In addition, current KS backers can increase their pledges if they wish and be able to access new backer goals as they are unlocked.

While the kickstarter, you said many times, that we wouldn't be able to back the game post kickstarter. Meaning, back us now of you wont be able to have those *deals* .
As always Steven, you lied to us.. pfft.
you were expecting something else ? poor you...
they will releases a p2win cash shop too down the road, and releases the games with minimal viable state if this ever releases, they are not forced by any legal mean, you have just give some random stranger your money, that like a donation, if he want dont make a games... well to bad for you
you will never get what you have dream for, and they will get all your money.
until peoples wake up that a nice free way and legal way to suck money out of poor fans who dream of their favorite mmorpg and will throw away money at anyone who tell them they will make it, no matter who they are, show some pretty graphic in unreal 4 engine and see the money coming
Rarely do people buy packages just to support the game. If they say they do, then they are most likely full of sass.
People purchase packages simply because they want to stand out among the other players with their exclusive armor or title...
These buyers yearn for the moment where a new player will see them in-game and say, "Hey bro! Where did you earn that armor set?" And their reply will be, "It was a Kickstarter only item. You can't get one now. Sry! Lololololz / Nah nah nah nah nah..."
I would personally support this type of Kickstarter if the maximum package cost was $59.99. This $250+ bs is utterly ridiculous.
Ashes of Kickstarter. I won't support this crap. What do you honestly think it's going to be like once the game launches? Players with money will win... just like in ArcheAge and Diablo 3 (during their real-money AH days).
Basically clicking away text windows ruins every MMO, try to have fun instead of rushing things. Without story and lore all there is left is a bunch of mechanics.

People who are doubtful will decide to buy when they hear it's only limited time, instead of waiting to see and in the end never purchasing. Also they'll get extra publicity by limited time campaign opening, limited time campaign nearing its end, and whatever sale follows this starting. And they'll get a justified excuse for raising their prices again between now and their next campaign.
It's much better business than just selling at flat price and unlimited availability.
"And, if you buy now...."
If you buy into this, you deserve everything you get.
And the Freak Show finally starts...........
Sometimes you just have to sit back and watch the plane try to take off on a runway that is way too short. Folks were warned, but they are gonna do what they are gonna do. They chose to ignore the warnings and get on the plane.

What constitutes flying? See I thought it was about making a game and I'd much rather that they accept more money than less. That's just me, though.
In the end, some people like to talk about how they knew the runway was too short, while others would rather try to help make the runway as long as possible. I can understand that some people might like to watch others die in a horrible, flaming fireball, but I'd prefer to give people as much chance to survive as possible.

Yeah, I'm kinda in the same boat. I couldn't really find value in their packages that would justify the risk. That's just me personally, though. I appreciate that there's significant risk with MMORPG development, so I'll throw money at some projects, but nothing that doesn't make it a no-brainer for me.

Hey, if you're looking to throw your money away on games that you'll never play, the Steam Summer Sale is also on now.

I see Star Citizen here all over again.
People never learn.
Fake news! He said it would take $30 million. So he still needs to either raise $27 or pony up that money himself. I'm in favor of it myself. I figure when in Rome, right? Everyone already things this guy is a scumbag, so he might as well capitalize on this nefarious status while he still can

Then i found out like so often the current trend, there is no game, just some promises and a business asking gamer's for free handouts.
Show us an actual GAME,then we can decide if we buy it or not, that is how fair business works.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
To me it seems that Intrepid is doing their best to please as many as possible, but they cannot please everyone.
So is this basically all that people on this site do; moan about everything and determining a game's death? It's interesting how most of you just comment about the negatives while being completely oblivious and even ignore anything positive the developers are trying to do.
Say what you mean and do what you say. If a company varies from that I will call them on it. Crowdfunding is based on trust. Trust is based on keeping your word. You are of course free to excuse them breaking their word a mere 3 weeks after it was given but please don;t lecture those of us who feel differently.
As for the quoted part, perhaps it's because one is tangible (they actually broke the Kickstarter Exclusive promise) while the other is nebulous and unproven. Anyone can SAY they are trying to do X/Y/Z. If they DELIVER, then they get praise. This isn't kindergarten where you get an A just for showing up. They just took millions of dollars from the public.

Thank you, nice being here.
Yes, I agree it is based on trust. However, every company is going to have go back, or break some promise at some point. They are not magicians, one can never predict exactly what is going to happen. In this case they realized that they had a lot of potential backers, and outright refusing all these people being able to back at all would just be bad business.
And sure, criticism is healthy. The developers should listen to the community and know that they are being watched. However, at least give the game development a chance to flourish before deciding that the game is going to die before it is even released. You say "They just took millions of dollars from the public." as if they haven't done anything. Very soon after the Kickstarter period ended, they hired and expanded their team. Even after they "took the public's money" they still are very transparent, having monthly live streams, talking to the community and showing their progress (when they have something to show).
Everyone has a right to their own opinion, and this is mine. I'm not telling anyone has to agree.
I'm also going to say with utter confidence that the store doesn't end with the Summer Sale and that we will see plent if future "Exclusives". If it were my company I'd never stop sales, but I also would say what I meant and do what I said. I'd be sure not to break my word a mere 3 weeks after the KS ended.
