Hi, everybody! I picked up the Platinum Edition and Catacombs today. After installing the Platinum Edition, all three CDs of it, I was surprised to discover that Catacombs was another four CDs! That got me to thinking: Did I need to install the Platinum Edition at all? If I start from scratch, could I just install from the Catacombs CDs, use my Platinum Edition key to enable my account and the expansions that go with it, and then use my Catacombs key for that expansion?
I ask because I don't want to have a lot of unused junk lying around on my computer if I don't actually need it.
Thanks!

1. Buy catacombs
2. Install the trial disks that came with it.
3. Activate your trial account
4. Install catacombs
5. Delete trial software
6. Play DAOC using the catacombs client
You must have a DAOC account for catacombs to work.
This is what I ended up doing:
- Uninstalled everything;
- Installed Catacombs, and just Catacombs;
- Ran Catacombs;
- Downloaded and installed the pre-patch update;
- Created my account;
- Supplied my Platinum Edition key when asked for my DAoC key;
- Supplied my Catacombs key when asked for that;
- Let the patcher update the game;
- Installed the optional tutorial and city art packages;
- Reran Catacombs and let the patcher update those, too.
Everything seems to work fine. When I log into my account, it tells me that the SI, ToA, and Catacombs expansions are enabled. All I really needed from the Platinum Edition was the CD Key. Well... and the manual, too, I suppose--but a PDF version of it is included with Catacombs as well.I should mention, I'm only playing on a Classic server for now. If I go to one of the other servers, is there a fast way to check that the Trials content is properly installed? I mean, a way that wouldn't require me to level a new character for months, first?

I've already done that.
All this tells me is that the servers think I'm entitled to play the expansions. It doesn't tell me whether I'm missing anything on my computer that I would need to play in the Trials zones. I suspect that all of the content is present in the Catacombs expansion CDs, but it would be nice to be able to confirm this.Catacombs CDs come with all content included with DAoC, SI, ToA and Catacombs. Once you install the 4 Cats CDs and activate the expansions, you are ready to roll. If it says they are active and you installed cats CDs, you're done.
