Even at max settings this game looks outdated.. why would they use crappy Unity Engine to build a MMORPG..  or any commercial game for that matter

Supposedly they had millions of dollars to build this game and they choose to use some crappy amateur Indy game engine that costs $125/ month to develop with LOL

how pathetically stupid can you get.   They probably even use shitty Unity art assets instead of creating their own..

Imagine if they actually had common sense and bought a real game engine.

Yeah sometimes you have to wonder why they make the choices they make when making games today.  Overall the UE4 engine is amazing.  I actually watched the entire video you linked.  It reminded me of when I was in training, learning how to use autocad for the first time back in the 90's.  Once you learned the basics and where things were you get faster and faster.  This guy was someone the knew the engine in and out and it shows.  Not that often I will sit and watch a basic vid like that one but got me hook seeing how easy it was to make that forest.

How about you do some research before posting. Unity is great engine and is able to achieve very high visual quality, close to UE4. Both of these engines use PBR (Physically Based Rendering) which allows for such great visuals. SotA uses old techniques that makes it look old. So don't judge the engine by a crappy looking game. Here are some demos of Unity:

    P. S. I guess Blizzard is also "pathetically stupid" to use Unity for Hearthstone :)

Actually, they use Unity because of how easy it is to take 3rd party art assets and sell them for profit in their cash shop.

"If it had not been as broadly adopted by such a sharing community, Unity would not be nearly as powerful. Not nearly," he says. "Everyone is willing to give each other stuff for free, or for truly reasonable prices, then that again multiplies the power of everyone who's working within Unity. To me, that's a unique moment." ~ Richard Garriott
