Not sure about XBox, but I do think this will be a better game if they include a game world with their first expansion.
I don't understand what you mean by include a game world in the first expansion...please explain.
I mean have a geographic world with forests, deserts, rivers, swamps, and cities that players can trek through and adventure in. From what I've heard about DDO, it's just instanced adventures.
From what I've heard about DDO, it's just instanced adventures.
And how, pray tell, would you describe a traditional D&D game session? An 'instanced' adventure. People need to stop comparing the features of DDO with other MMORPGs; it's trying to emulate Dungeons and Dragons, not Everquest.

Raiding oriented? I just lost faith.
Er? I just check the web site again... the question under "Can I solo"? Still says yes, solo is doable, especially at lower levels. Higher level content, however will be primarily group based.
All of this is paraphrased.
Where'd this concept of "raiding oriented" come from?
In a Question & Answer (the second I think) Ken Troop was asked:
Will there be raiding in DDO?
He answer:
Yes!
And he refuse to elaborate any further despite MMORPG.com staff.
This is enough to make me lose faith.
Solo in DDO? As much as in EQ! Peoples who believe otherwise are been fooled.

True enough. Still, would love to see a Forgotten Realms world done in totality, with the players free to wander as they will (and as the monsters will allow).
Why can't DDO be what it wants to be? How do we know it wont be easy to group? If someone wants to be a loner and play 45 min before bed etc. then play EQII or something else? DDO does not have to be everything to everyone. DDO should represent PnP D+D as closely as possible. I trust that DDO creators will continue to think this way. As was mentioned earlier PnP was never a one person game, excluding the preparation of the DM. Anyone who has played classical PnP D+D knows the length that D+D has gone to make that game enjoyable. DDO will be a great game, yes it will have it quirks as all games do, but I trust they will iron those problems out. Be patient. It will be good! Good things take time!
I truly hope this game gives me the same feeling as sitting with 3 buddies on a saturday morning playing PnP, but I can't see it happening.
I will definately jump on the bandwagon about solo play. I remember playing final fantasy XI online and not being able to accomplish anything because I didn't have the job in "demand." So I sat on my computer for hours just trying to find other people to play MY game. What if I only have an hour to spare and I want to spend it playing a game? It needs a solo aspect just as much, if not more, than party.
I don't know about you guys, but i like adventuring out on my own when I first begin a game. Just to get the hang of it. And sometimes I just dont feel like being bothered. I want to play by myself. Ultima Online is a perfect example. there is plenty of things you can do on your own. ie. work on your house or boat, treasure hunt, advance skills.
I hope the developers dont go "party crazy" and loose the ROLE PLAYING in MMORPG.

Do I think this will be a good game? Absolutely.
Do I think this will be a good MMORPG? No. Need a game-world to have a MMORPG and instanced dungeons does constitute this.
It all depends on how well they execute what they say they want to do.
