Sure if you wish me to I will, bearing in mind I'm English and most people will not have heard of many of my favourite bands....

    the Libertines
    Arctic Monkeys
    Futureheads
    Oasis
    Faithless
    Groove Armade
    Blur
    Babyshambles
    White Stripes
    Beatles
    Beach Boys
    The Clash
    the Ramones
    Massive Attack
    David Bowie
    Fatboy SLim
    Flaming Lips
    Interpol
    Kasabian
    Kings of Leon

Any for the people that insinuated that I had no idea about music you may wish to know me and my knowledge of music before you state these things. I'm well aware of what is required to make a good band, and in reading my previous comment I used the words little talent, which in retrospect I shouldn't have applied to heavy metal bands.
But, I don't think that heavy metal is quality 'music', more just who can produce the loudest and rawest noise to psyche the listener....

-REAL- blackmetal takes more talent then any other metal style ;)

    *disclaimer*
bands like cof (also known as Cradle of ****) Children of bodom and wussy bands like slipknot does not qualify as blackmetal

If anyone on this forum had any of these talents in the way that professional musicians do, I don't think we'd be wasting time at work posting

    Two words... Ashlee Simpson.

And as for the non-underlined part, I like how you glorify writing music, but it's really not THAT difficult, though sometimes it is magical. :) It's not as tough as you make it sound, I've taken a few years of music composition and stuff. Really takes no effort at all, just basic math skills and a little creativity... but to do it to a point where you're writing music that makes the hair on the back of peoples' necks stand up... that's something you can't work on. That's something you're born with. :)

Actually they only meantion the words "sword" and "dragon" very few times. If you had a brain, or actually have listened to ManOWaR, you would have used words like steel and metal. That's called an analysis.

Yes Power Metal takes skill. Complex riffs, 4/4 with intelligent fills in 7/8 bar or 15/16 bar to emphasize the energy takes a lot of skill to compose.

I would like for you to tell us which music you like to listin to!

Even though I'm scandinavian I don't like scandinavian Metal. It's to "eletronic" Keyboards, mixing, altared voices to hide that they can't sing. No. Even though it might require skill. Why would Nordic Black metal require a lot amout of skill. Give me a detailed Technical description.

surely what music is good or bad is completely based upon opinion, what may seem talentless to one person might not to another.... i have my opinions but i cant force them upon people....

You are right. Of course. Music judgement will always be subjective. But people can't deny that there pure factual most be different amount of skill required to compose different kinds of music. Say like Hiphop/rap = Extremely simple 4/4 beat used pretty much the whole song through. You don't need to be able to sing. To make metafors or an intelligent text(always about drug, sex, violence and alcohol) All you need is to be able to rhyme.
