The Sea of Thieves team has posted a new update to the ongoing Technical Alpha that provides new information about additional features being added to help out teams of players including text-based chat, the ability to banish players to the brig, scuttling your own ship and much more. The game really seems to be coming together!

Yeah you run into other crews playing, the setting is PvP by default.

I still dont get the progression/objectives. I.e. these videos never tell what the overarching game will be.

Basically you search for buried treasure chests, carry them to your ship, then sail for a port where you can trade them in for gold. At any time anyone else can come along and fight you for the treasure chest. There have been vague mentions of quests or pve content but there was absolutely no signs of anything like that the last time i tested it.

All sounds great but to me it looks like this would get boring fast. The basic game look super cool, but this lack of "greater game"......

I also wish they invest more in progression.

Right now is literal game sessions to go get treasure and sell it, then shops to buy items, but it's not budging into something more persistent, with one heavier open-world social aspect and endgame.
