Really not sure I like MMORPG promoting this p2w garbage. P2W in F2P or B2P games ok I guess, but in full priced AAA games? Nope.
what exactly about the game is pay2win now that the microtransaction system has been removed?
It's only been temporarily removed and will be re-implemented again at some point i.e it's only been switched off for the moment rather than removed.
yeah. . .
but. . . .he said the game was pay2win now, as in today, not sometime in the future.
can you tell me how it is pay2win now?
thanks
Well, since you want to get technical... There has been early access to the game for several days on all platforms and the pay for crates was turned off just yesterday. So anyone who paid to get heroes and star cards before that.

Personally I’m not even considering picking this game up until we see what they are going to do with the P2W features once they re-enable them. EA are the masters at PR management, temporary is temporary, buyer beware.

also isn't the game buy2play? you're ok with pay2win in buy2play games. . .just not this one for some reason?
your post is really confusing, please clarify
This game is no more P2W than Pokemon or Magic The Gathering or Hearthstone.
I couldn't tell you as I don't play those games, but those game aren't attached to a Iconic brand like Star Wars is. Disney owns SW and when people think of Disney, most think of kids and family fun. When a game tied to SW comes out and utilizes a method to make money that many associate with gambling and starts having articles show up in The washing Post, CNN, and other media, it's treated differently.
Regardless on how good the game is or isn't, EA went to far with a franchise that too well known and they did for no other reason than the bottom line as they always do. There are other less intrusive ways to milk it sheep, I mean players and still get money.
I'm not an IT Specialist, Game Developer, or Clairvoyant in real life, but like others on here, I play one on the internet.
Only a fool would purchase this game with all the horrid monetization involved.
Yeah that horrid monetization, like a $60 box fee then all DLC for free. You literally never need to spend another cent on the game after initial purchase. Those bastards.

Of course I'm aware of what's going on. But it should be clear in my post that I don't agree with the herd. Is anything I said in the post you quoted factually incorrect?

Can you inform us about the current retail prices for Pokemon, Magic the Gathering and Hearthstone ?
And yes, this game is as p2w as it can get. In case you missed it the temporally disabled loot boxes contain star cards which directly increase a characters combat potency.

I simply disagree with you on the P2W aspect. They removed the high level cards from the boxes after the beta, as they should have. Now you need to craft your cards to get them to Epic and even then you need to meet the level requirements to use them.
Now if the outrage is simply that loot boxes exist in games, then I can understand peoples annoyance. But that is a totally different discussion. They stated that they are using them in this game to subsidize everyone being able to get all the future DLC without additional cost. I'm ok with that approach, some clearly are not.
Do you consider those TCG games P2W? Because the ONLY way to get high level cards in those games is to spend real life money.

A lot of people misconstrue what P2W is. Pay to win is the process where you acquire something that is otherwise inaccessible to a non-payer. Battlefront is not Pay to win. The model it had before it got plugged was pay to progress faster. Nothing in the game is barred from you if you did not opt into getting lootboxes faster with real money.
I find myself needing to mention I do not like this model and it is not desirable in any video game. However, I find myself needing to defend the definition of p2w so that it has more meaning and influence when stated in the future. Thank you.
Most people your hear that are "outraged" are a minor percentage. At least eat his making changes instead of simply telling us to deal with it. I miss the days where gamers where not so self entitled

Could only hope Disney would pull the Star Wars IP from EA, would be a true blessing. They are panicking and trying to scrap as much money as they can for launch then will go back to the original plan once the dust settles a little and their stocks go back up.
The game was made around the loot boxes, I wouldn't think for a second EA had a "change of heart" due to gamers, just thankfully gamers finally complained loud enough to rock the boat. Just need that boat to sink now.
Just a thought... How many great programming studios, one with coders, spectacular artists, producers, and everything else involved in making a game of this magnitude, do you think there are? Do you truly believe that Disney can simply go find another studio of the same caliber? Do you think studios of this skill level aren't already working on their own projects? The people on here dissing EA, I get the frustration. But, the studio is a commodity, just like nuclear power plants and the technicians running them. You can't simply say: "You suck, we're going elsewhere." I've seen the multitude of indie games (MMO's and others) think they can pull something off, only to have their dreams shattered when they realize how much skill and art it actually takes. Just not sure how discussions like this can continue without pointing out this blindingly-insanely obvious fact.

You do not pay 60,70 or 80 euros to acquire those games. In fact you get them for free.
And what about the locked content ? Spending 60+ dollars or euros on a fully priced AAA game only to find out that iconic characters are locked behind a tedious grind or alternatively a pay wall is ok with you ?
You enjoy the game ? kudos to you. But to not try to alter the fact that SWBF II is build on foundations aiming solely to milk as much cash out of the players after they paid full dollar to get it.

Minor percentage ? You're off by light years. I presume you don't have access to the social media or sites like metacritic. The outrage is real and comes from a huge crowd.
Do you really believe that it takes only a "minor percentage" of outraged customers to force a company like EA to change, even temporarily, their monetizing plan in a AAA game? Not to mention that it probably was Disney who practically ordered EA / Dice to take immediate action after witnessing the global shitstorm and seeing their precious IP being dragged through the mud by EA.

BUTTTT the minor % made me laugh. I really dont care about this game but anyone with some common sense knows this isnt right. And can/will hurt gaming in general. They just gonna try how far they can go with micro-transactions.

Why would a box price change how you feel? Either P2W is bad or it isnt. Again, i dont think the game is P2W so thats my position. As for heroes being lockrd behind a paywall or grind, it doesn't bother me. again, they adjusted the cost of them way down. You could by Darth Vader after just a couple hours of play now, not a big deal to me.
We just have very different opinions on these things. I'll continue to play and enjoy the game, I hope you're able to do the same with some other game.
If it's initial or launch day, then maybe it won't make a difference, but it will with future earnings. Either way, with all the bad press they are getting, this game won't realize it's full potential in earnings and EA has no one to blame but themselves.
