PUBG Team Apologizes for Inappropriate Female Model on Test Server - PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds - MMORPG.com

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds News - PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds players trying out the female character models on the game's test server were surprised to see a rather inappropriate female character model. The character is dressed in skin-tight shorts with genitalia prominently shown as a result. The model in question is a new one as earlier versions of female characters did not have this same imagery. I'd venture to say that most women don't want to see those sorts of details depicted on their characters. Maybe it's not the same for most males with regard to their own. I don't know.

While not offended, I find that it's just unnecessary and only there for the titillation factor since it serves no purpose for game play. All I picture in my mind's eye are a bunch of prepubescent boys giggling while looking at it while elbowing their buddy. Silly.

As the Twitter guy said, "rookie mistake".

think of the children! i don't mind them killing others for a sport in a game, were the only way to win is everyone else dies but they really should not have the option to see panties displaying any form of a female body in a sexual or realistic way. it sexist an wrong an will turn are children into rapist!



in case my sarcasm is lost on the PG crowd i find it sad that killing in movies/game = ok. any form of nudity = disgust an should be shamed for liking it.

Doesn't offend me at all (heck, so many movies i the 70's showed at LEAST as much), but it really is unnecessary and I agree "amateur hour" or at least someone who doesn't know when to turn off his 14 year old self.

I'd be very surprised if it was a woman who made this.

This is the problem, the rot, in video games. Too many little boys who go unchecked. No matter their age.

Again, not an issue, I'm for games that show this if they are a type of game that is based on this type of art design (which sadly means men but tit for tat) but for a game like this I'm surprised it made it into the files.

Whether or not it's inoffensive to certain people, it certainly wasn't asked for (...probably) despite the high probability of offending a decent chunk of people (and really making no sense within the context of the game). Hence the need for an apology.

...but yea, how did that happen? Actually modelling THAT much detail down there is kinda something you have to go out of your way to do...

So your saying they made the models too realistic.......

I find it hard to believe that showing a female in her underwear is somehow more offensive than a game about slaughtering 100 people, for what amounts to no other reason than because they are there.



It's no wonder our youth are so screwed up. Think of what message your actually sending them.

Honestly I think it has less to do with prepubescent giggling than post modern lack of taste. There is a place for Leisure Suit Larry, not that anyone would survive making such a game in today's society that is both puritanical and awash in pornography. There's just no sense what is  appropriate or attractive any more. It's a Mylie Cyrus world. 

Except "lack of taste" has always been a part of the human condition.

Having male genitalia "pointing the way" to brothels in Pompeii (on the building walls and sidwalks), risque chanson in the renaissance and the appearance of decorum on the outside while behaving otherwise behind closed doors in the Victorian era are just a few examples.

Anything that's going on now has gone on before. We're just more publicly acquainted with it because of how media/the internet spreads information.

I'm not particularly offended by this, "Fan Service" is not a new concept. I realize that some people want this.......What I don't get is.......Why? What does this add? What does this bring to the table? More players? Does this contribute to player retention? If this is what it takes to bring in New blood or to keep veterans around, this is probably the wrong game for me.
