What's Daybreak Up To? Job Postings Hint at Multiple Online Games in Development - MMORPG.com News

It appears that Daybreak Game Company is preparing at least two new games are in development, one an "online RPG" and the other "an online FPS/TPS game". Job descriptions provide a few hints: The games are both multiplatform. One is based on "a popular old-class IP" while the other is "a hugely popular global IP". Indications are that an announcement for one of the two will be coming sometime in early 2018.

They still have the landmark assets, so its always possible and wouldn't take that long to use them. The real question is will anything they "develop" be any good or just another cash grab.

Maybe I should dig out my comment from last year - when Bill was it? - had an almost identical story (although I think the number of positions being advertised was slightly higher).

From memory I said something like: development would take a lot more people than they were advertsing for. And here we are over a year later.

Not suggesting that DBG are not thinking about the future but its a leap from concept to new game. The first listing looks like support for one of their current games as well.

Only 6 months ago - seems longer! And the concensus in that thread seemed to be that most of the potential hires were probably to fill vacancies. Which occur in all companies of course - retirements and deaths in addition to moves, new jobs etc. 

I still feel that CN deserve credit for keeping the existing games going. SoE closed a lot of stuff in the 5 or so years prior to them taking over. No new stuff should be expected though. If it happens its a bonus and I doubt it will be big budget stuff.

Dint they lay off bunch to peoples not while ago ? I wouldn’t want to work some where that well known to lay off

This could be anywhere in the industry. In the games industry alone there are layoffs when a project releases and they ramp down, nevermind when a company is bought out. I think you'd be waiting a while if you were looking for a place with ultimate job security.

To those desiring the next EQ, forget it. Unless they bring back Dave and, dare I say, smedley (FUAH), it just wont be up to par. Having said that, after the way treats its employees that have value, like firing them, and the lowballing of the rest of the employees, if you really do want to work for them be prepared to get treated like garbage as well as underpaid.
