Maybe that is why they never put the necromancer class in WoW (even though necromancers are a thing in warcraft, they were in warcraft 3 and its most requested class for WoW)...cause they've planned to make a Diablo MMO this entire time. Can't have two MMOs by the same company with pretty much the same exact class.

Think of the most disappointing thing you can think of and thats most likely it. I'm guessing just a new diablo expansion and a new wow expansion. if they had anything in the works for a world of diablo they would be announcing it and we would know about it. would be great PR. but they wont do it until wow stops making them money. world of diablo would cannibalize wow, so they wont do it anytime soon.

World of Diablo is almost a given. They were going to go with some kind of FPS mmorpg, Titan, which they canned and yet salvaged to make Overwatch. A new IP probably wasnt something they were prepared to do with something as risky as a MMORPG.
Thus what else do they have in their catalog? Diablo and StarCraft. Fantasy (sword n shield, magic..ect) seems to be easier for MMORPGs when it comes to design and appeal... and if you want to get WoW players to switch over... something similar is necessary. This leaves Diablo as having the most appeal.
Many fans wanted a world of diablo as well, and have made it known for years. However, the big divide is probably going to be with regards to staying true to the "isometric" style of Diablo as a hack n slash or to do what World of Warcraft did and offer a new perspective and style of gameplay.
Some people want the first, a mmorpg version of what exist now in Diablo 3 where as others hope to see a second World of Warcraft in terms of 3rd person, open world, gameplay. I am hoping it is the latter, since the first can still count as a bit niche... especially with mmorpgs. If they could find a way to offer both kinds of play styles, that may also work.
Except the Old Gods aren't even close to the final major threat in WoW. We still have the Void Lords and just the void in general to contend with beyond just some snot that flew out of it onto Azeroth. Also Bolvar/New Lich King is gonna be an issue at some point, etc.
We're moving to new areas in BFA and they're throwing a lot of new enemies, races (little fox people, turtle people, bigger humans, yada), and whatever. I don't think they're planning on stopping the WoW train anytime soon.
Most likely gonna be a D4 with a lot of multiplayer aspects though.
Someone said no ..just a D4 with a lot of mp aspects ..ummm lol. That is exactly what a mmorpg/world of Diablo would be lol.
They already started it with D3 but then removed the AH,crafting was done super half assed..meaningless,it became like the others, just a rinse and repeat one shot killing spam.
Wow still has no housing, still the lesser of EQ2,so does anyone think they would actually make a GOOD Diabloesque mmorpg,i surely don't,will they make one, well they will call it a Diablo mmorg but it won't be good.Their main focus will be Epsort, you can bank on it,whatever they do that is their aim because the competitive nature of people drives their money making engine.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

Not true. There'd be very little incentive for them to change the name from Diablo 4 to World of Diablo, if it was no different than D3 with the single player/lobby-based matchmaking MP.
D3's RMAH was an attempt to keep people playing and funding their game time through the game itself, as well as Blizz making a continuous flow of cash from and it killed the game from its very foundation. Seemed like a win-win on paper. Horrible mistake I don't see them repeating, which is good. Crafting wasn't meaningless for the leveling process, but was kinda shit in the end, and now it's decent enough for leveling, as well as finding recipes and crafting specific armor sets, gemming gear, transmog, etc. Seems pretty useful overall nowadays, though not exactly necessary to the general gameplay.
WoW introduced Garrisons as their version of housing. They never wanted housing because they wanted players to continue to gather in towns and stuff so the game felt more populated. Ultimately, Garrisons did prove that they were right about this, and they're focusing on more social aspects of the game from here on out.
Of course they're going to be focusing on esports. It's a big deal and gets them lots of money and publicity for their games. You're complaining about the money-making capabilities of pushing competitiveness in a video game?
You're negatively biased towards just about everything, so I take what you say with a grain of salt, but come on man.

The Warlock and Death Knight basically are 2 sides of the same Necromancer coin. At this point a Necromancer would just be redundant. Trust me when I say I would love a Necro class. But it would be like if they released a Cleric class when they already have Paladins and Priests. Unfortunately, I just dont see it happening.
