You could always start off by taking him on a tour of Second Life. The place is huge and there's lots to see, probably with companies there who share his interests. Nice orientation area for newcomers.
I agree with this post. It's an online virtual world. And it's not just a bunch of BDSM people dressed up in sexually suggestive clothing like some have implied.
It really is though. You are not going to be able to explore SL to any extent without running across something questionable, even in the pg sims where it's left to the sim owners and staff to police them. It is what it is. If it doesn't bother you, than go for it.
Something questionable? I'm play MMO online games alot. I am sometimes offended by questionable behavior and what players say in the local chat in these games. Deal with it. It happens in the real world too. If you can't deal with "something questionable" don't leave your house luddite.
Not that it's a big obstacle, but if I wanna get my wife in: which one is most giant spider-intense? GW2, DDO, LOTRO, EQ2 or ESO?
Missed that question in all the SL talk (btw. in my experience it really is hard to avoid the vampire and bdsm people in SL, but not impossible. Although I wouldn't call it a game... more like an online space where you can do anything.)
So, giant spiders. @PRC_Trex You didn't say for the player, or as an environment theme... but if you mean for playing, she definitely should give LotRO a try. Sure, it is mainly for pvp, sadly. Creeps have some PvE content too (quests, a short storyline, advancement) but nothing serious really. "You're with the forces of Sauron, go and kill those so-called free people" And advancement is mainly just ranks, since creep characters are always level-capped. (when there's a cap raise in the game, the creeps automatically jump to that new level cap, so they could stand a chance against the player characters).
For the details, weaver class (spider) is not free, you should either purchase it (around 8 bucks, somewhere around 5 when it's PvMP sale week), or subscribe. It's the lore-master's counterpart, weaver is the creep side's CC and pet class (has a small spider hatchling). It has ugly spider skins https://youtu.be/aupBpgzXMD4
